If May isn’t officially the month of gratitude, we think it deserves consideration. We’ve barely started the month and our Good mailbox is already stuffed full of causes we celebrate and people we appreciate. That includes:

Teacher appreciation day/week

We heard from many kids thanking their teachers, including those of Jessica Sogoloff, Senior Manager in Account Management from Boston, MA, and Swetha Cheerla from the Systems Engineering team in Irving, TX.

National Nurses Day

Our Governance Reporting and Planning Team took the time to craft a beautiful group photo montage with a message to “our amazing front-line workers.” We couldn’t agree more. And it’s why we love seeing the celebration of the nurses in our lives by our V Teamers, including Jeffrey Galluzo, James McGrew, Anali Lins and Patricia Cassamasima.

Military Appreciation Month

We want to congratulate Cecille Muggill, Manager of COE Service Delivery, and her daughter, Gail, who graduated last month from the United State Air Force Academy and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. Thank you, Gail, for your service to our country, and thank you to all of our military members and their families for the sacrifices you make.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month this Month

Here’s a story we can all be proud of. Christallyne Pagulayan moved to the U.S. from the Philippines ten years ago with $500 and hopes of turning her American dream into reality. Her first and only job was at Verizon. Today, as an Account Manager in Indirect District Sales in Las Vegas, NV, she is able to give back to those impacted by COVID-19 as well as make masks for those who need them back home. Look for a conversation on journeys like these and much more during a Build Series event with Asian American leaders on May 12.

Mental Health Awareness and Stroke Awareness

We are all facing some of the most challenging times of our lives, which is why a series of virtual events this month aim to enlighten our team on the issues affecting millions of people.

Mother’s Day

Tomorrow, we’ll hear from our own Up To Speed’s Katie Regner on celebrating the moms in our lives during this new normal. In the meantime, you can check out her blog Motherhood and Mt. Dew to read of her day-to-day adventures of working from home with two young kids.

That’s everyone and everything we’re celebrating this month. Or is it?

If you know of a cause, group or celebration we’re missing, let us know at good@verizon.com.
