In his younger days, Andy Lamrock, APAC Global Solutions Managing Partner, was a professional hockey player in Canada. It was on those teams that he saw great examples of leadership that he continues to model today.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Andy’s current hometown of Melbourne, Australia, he heard that the players of his local semi-pro hockey team were struggling to get by. He looked for ways to help and went to work. He reached out to sponsors of the hockey team to help raise funds for a care package program. The program was eventually expanded through a national supermarket chain and has now reached about 2,000 people.
“When you hand over a care package to someone and you see that smile, it’s not just a smile of happiness,” said Andy. “It’s a smile of relief.”
Andy’s values align with those of his company. “The reason why I stay at Verizon is our focus on meaningful purpose,” he said. “Networks are not just the physical things we do to connect people. It’s networks of people coming together to do great things, and volunteering is obviously one of those things. Everyone in our organization has the opportunity to volunteer and see meaningful purpose and measured impact for good.”
