On today’s edition of Up To Speed, host Andy Choi was joined by Hans Vestberg, Craig Silliman and Vandana Venkatesh for some big announcements.
Hurricane Ian Update
Hans began the episode by sharing an update on our Hurricane Ian Recovery Efforts. He shared how proud he feels to see the V Team ‘run to a crisis’ and how it’s a true example of our Credo in action. He then highlighted a few of the efforts of our teams on the ground as well as our donations, a $125k donation to the Florida Disaster Fund and a $250k to Small Businesses to help them rebuild.
As for our V Teamers who were in the Hurricane’s path, the VtoV Employee Relief Fund exists to help assist those in need. Thus far we’ve received over 100 applications from V Teamers for assistance because they have been displaced from their homes. A lot of these V Teamers are home based, so not only did their home get damaged but it’s their office too. Our HR Team continues to work directly with employees in scope. Verizon 2.3
Hans announced some very strategic organizational changes. These changes are intended to accelerate efficiencies, enabling us to reinvest in expanding network superiority and grow our customer base. As we look forward to 2023, he announced that we’re further advancing Verizon 2.0 and preparing to enter Verizon 2.3. Verizon 2.3, is a company-wide effort to look across our entire business and operations portfolio to more efficiently serve all our stakeholders and to position us for success and growth in 2023.
Verizon Global Services
Hans shared that one of our initial Verizon 2.3 moves, is the creation of Verizon Global Services (VGS). This organization will centralize key functions that unlock our ability to enhance and strategically deliver key services for all our business groups and centers of excellence. It will take on responsibility for most shared services teams within Verizon including Real Estate, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Fleet, Finance Operations, Global Technology Solutions, Reporting and Insights, Learning and Development, Public Policy and Information Security. VGS also will be responsible for bringing a holistic approach to Verizon’s partner ecosystem, which consists of tens of thousands of vendors providing services to us, to ensure seamless and efficient business processes.
Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel, Craig Silliman, will be taking on a new role leading the company's new central support services operations, as President, of Verizon Global Services (VGS). As Craig steps into this new role, effective immediately, Vandana Venkatesh, will assume his responsibilities as Chief Legal Officer.
Verizon 2.3 is a team effort and Craig asked the entire V Team to send him ideas and suggestions to help the team succeed. You can email him at helpcraig@verizon.com.
