Happy Monday! On today’s Up To Speed Live, we started the week with a fun and informative live quiz hosted by Andy Choi and Communications intern Adi Wineland. Andy also shared the following updates:
A 5K with some familiar faces
It was a beautiful weekend in New Jersey for some running. A number of V Teamers got together to support a great cause at this year’s Verizon Corporate Classic 5K. CEO Hans Vestberg was at the finish line to greet our Communications colleague Diana D’Achille, who was not only the fastest on our Verizon team but the fastest female overall with a 5K time of 18:53. Congrats, Diana!
The official charity of this year’s Verizon Corporate Classic was once again the Jersey Battered Women’s Service. JBWS offers a wide range of services for survivors of domestic abuse. As in years past, our V Team was proud to help make a difference. This year, that included a donation of $10,000.
Shout out to our Aussie V colleagues
About a week ago, our Australian Security Operations Team invited Andy and Up To Speed producer Christine Henderson to a virtual meeting ‘down under’ to share with the group how we put together shows like Up To Speed. We got some great story ideas to share with all of you in future Up To Speeds. We also talked about how incredibly important it is to maintain that sense of connection with colleagues near and far. A big thank you to Troy Heland and the rest of our teammates in Australia.
This meeting took place just as it was announced that parts of Australia would extend its lockdown due to COVID-19. It is certainly a challenging time for many. We’d like to take a moment to extend our thoughts of support and encouragement to our Australian V Teamers. We’re thinking of you and wishing for the best in the days ahead.
Global Choice
As we continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to share some news on how Verizon is connecting new wireless customers with loved ones in Latin America, on us of course, all through Global Choice.
Global Choice gives customers access to an international long distance plan offering a monthly allowance of minutes to select countries at discounted rates. Starting today, Verizon will begin offering free Global Choice for one of 11 Latin American countries to new wireless customers on Unlimited plans. Just another way we are serious about connecting our customers with the world.
