Hurricane Dorian hits Bahamas and continues towards Southeast.
Hurricane Dorian tore through the Bahamas on Monday with storm surges 12 to 18 feet above normal tide level, leaving a wake of devastation and destruction in its path. As of Tuesday morning, there were 5 confirmed deaths on the Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands. As the islands focus now on search, rescue, and recovery, Verizon announced that customers will be able to call and text the Bahamas for free during the storm’s aftermath.
With Hurricane Dorian continuing towards Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia, Verizon is offering free calling, texting, and data for customers and small businesses in its path through September 9th.
“We know that people have a lot of work to do in order to prepare for a major hurricane,” said John Granby, Verizon Consumer Group South President. “This is one small thing we can do to ensure they are able to connect worry-free before, during, and after the storm.” For a full list of counties in the storm’s path that will receive free service, click here.
