We salute the men and women in our armed forces who have bravely served and sacrificed for the country. Our veterans put their safety at risk and their lives on hold to defend the freedoms we all enjoy. We are so grateful. Our gratitude also extends to their spouses and families who have made tremendous sacrifices at home to support their loved ones in their call to duty.

But words are not enough. At Verizon, we don’t just thank our veterans and their families, we hire them. We believe in honoring our veterans every day of the year.

More than 11,000 veterans contribute their skills across Verizon, including at the highest levels of the company. We recognize the value of their military experience, which improves our products and services, brings an unparalleled skill set to our workforce, and helps us compete in the global marketplace. We are proud of the number of veterans we hire, but we are even prouder to work next to them.

Verizon has a long history of supporting veterans and the military community. In 2018, Verizon was ranked the #1 Military Friendly® company and a top 10 company for military spouse employment. Verizon has dedicated teams of recruiters that specialize in hiring veterans from all branches of the military to help us compete for America’s top veteran talent. We also recognize the key role military spouses play in their families and the unique circumstances that take them wherever duty calls, which is why we’re committed to hiring military spouses and supporting them in careers that transfer all over the world through our Military Spouse Talent Network.

Hiring is not the only way we support America’s military. We also honor the many sacrifices of those currently serving, who are often away from those they love. Long deployments and extended separations make staying in touch with family more important than ever, and to help make that possible, we offer discounts to active duty and retired military members. We know that a holiday or birthday phone call can make all the difference to someone serving far away from their family, and we’re honored to play a small role to make that possible.

Veterans are integral to Verizon’s success and help us achieve our goal of delivering the promise of the digital world to our customers. Whether we’re working beside them or helping them connect with their loved ones, we are committed to serving America’s military and are fortunate to benefit from their outstanding skills, discipline, and pursuit of excellence.

Happy Veterans Day and a heartfelt thank you from all of us at Verizon.
