Happy Friday V Team! On today’s Up To Speed Live, host Diana Alvear recapped the big news stories from the week and shared the following new updates:

Reflecting on voting rights

Yesterday, Hans sent a message which discussed our stance on recent voting legislation. As Hans said in his note: “We strongly oppose the passage of any legislation or the adoption of any measure that would make it harder for any voter including historically marginalized groups —people of color, seniors, students and people with disabilities—to exercise their fundamental right to cast a ballot.” Read the full note here.

Verizon Business Group news

We announced a new partnership with Dreamscape Immersive that will innovate virtual reality apps using 5G and MEC. Their first big goal: 5G immersive learning and training innovations for use in enterprise, public sector, and education environments.

Verizon Business also signed its first European Private 5G deal with Associated British Ports, which operates the Port of Southampton. The port will be using our Private 5G solution for better communication across the mainland port with future plans to take advantage of the technology for real-time analytics, IoT and Machine Learning for asset tracking, autonomous guided vehicles, workflow management, predictive maintenance and safety monitoring.
