Happy Friday! On today’s Up To Speed, Andy shared the following updates:
Nationwide 5G expansion
Yesterday, we announced the extension of our Nationwide 5G, expanding to cover another 24 million customers — bringing the total to more than 230 million people and counting — who now have access to the speed and capabilities of Verizon 5G. Our engineers are working every day to ensure 5G becomes an integral part of our customers’ lives, a goal we will all continue to focus on in 2021.
2021 Kickoff with Hans
Mark your calendars for Monday, January 4, at 12 PM ET/9 AM PT, when Hans and our leadership team will share our 2021 goals. You can watch it right here on Up To Speed. And, if you haven’t already, download the Inside Verizon app (via Google Play Store or the Apple App store).
Casting call
Speaking of the new year, we’ll soon be filming new commercials touting our 5G Ultra Wideband network, which means we’ll need real-life Verizon 5G engineers to help tell our story. That can mean only one thing: Are you ready for your close-up?
If you or someone you know is an engineer actively working on building out our 5G network and is interested in being our next commercial spokesperson, send the name and contact info to the Good Mailbox at good@verizon.com to start the process.
Supporting our troops
From one group of superstars to another, we want to tell you about the ways some of our V Teamers are making the holidays extra special for our troops. Earlier this month, members of our Network Operations team in New Jersey gathered to collect food and supplies for the Adopt-A-Unit campaign in partnership with the American Red Cross.
This year’s event was originally canceled due to the pandemic, but our V Team worked hard to find a way to make the event both safe and successful. In the end, 5.5 tons of food and sanitary goods were donated, packaged and shipped to the men and women serving in places like Afghanistan and North Africa. Thank you to our men and women in uniform and to all who support them.
12 Days of Kindness
Over the weekend our social teams came together to kickstart “12 Days of Kindness.” From sharing smiles to notes of gratitude to meals with friends and family, this campaign, which runs the 12 days leading up to Christmas, continues to challenge folks to spread kindness this holiday season. Head to our social channels, including @vzuptospeed, to check out the daily challenges and see how you can participate.
Cardboard connection stories
A few weeks ago, we offered V Teamers a chance to create their own cardboard cutouts of loved ones who they wouldn’t be able to see in person over the holidays. So many of you responded and sent back wonderful stories of how you connected with your families during this challenging holiday. Among those sharing their stories were:
- Eric Hines, District Manager-Indirect for Small and Medium Business, Verizon Business Group
- Sara Glover, Senior Manager-Channel Management, Verizon Business Group
- Miguel Reynoso, Consultant, Learning & Development
- Michelle Waggener, Manager-Product Management/Development, Verizon Business Group
That’s all for now. Happy eighth day of Hanukkah to those who celebrate. And to all, have a great weekend!
