Are you ready for some football? Today’s Up To Speed Live will have you in a pigskin state of mind as Andy checks in with our Chief Football Fan and Marketing Officer Diego Scotti. Diego shares all that we’re doing to share our 5G story, support small businesses and make watching Super Bowl LV fun and memorable.
The incredible work we’ve done to prepare for the big game includes outfitting Raymond James stadium with 5G Ultra Wideband. That will allow fans in attendance to enjoy the Super Stadium app offering multiple camera views with no latency, among other features.
For those of us who won’t be at the stadium, we can still enjoy the game with our friends and family by utilizing the Watch Together feature.
We also teamed up with Fortnite Creative to build a virtual stadium based on the actual Raymond James version. In Fortnite Creative mode, you can play games related to actual NFL stars and check in on celebrity tournaments. So much safe fun to be had for the whole family.
The best Super Bowl ad (in our opinion)
As you’re watching the game, enjoy the ads, especially our spot featuring Samuel L. Jackson. You can get a sneak peek by watching the video above or catch the full ad during the third quarter of the game.
Super Bowl stats
Verizon worked with Morning Consult to poll consumers and get a snapshot of how Americans are planning to experience this year’s big game. Here are just a couple findings that we found interesting.
- 69% of the people responding said they watch the Super Bowl mainly for the ads. Since we have an ad running this year, that’s good news for us!
- One in three millennials say they plan to attend a virtual party for the Super Bowl.
- About one in three likely watchers say they ordered from a local restaurant for the big game in 2020, while 52% are likely to do so this year.
Post-game concert
We’re continuing to pay it forward with The Verizon Big Concert for Small Business, the ultimate Super Bowl LV after-party featuring many top artists. The concert will stream live on Sunday at 11 PM ET/8 PM PT on Yahoo, Fios, @Verizon on Twitter, Twitch, YouTube and TikTok, and will broadcast on BET, CBS Sports Network, CMT, MTV2 and MTV Live, as well as on iHeart and Sirius. This is all part of our support for one million small businesses.
We're also encouraging folks to post on social who their favorite small business is using #BigConcertSmallBiz for a chance to have your tweet featured in the livestream broadcast. Andy already gave a shout out to his favorite small business, which also happens to serve his favorite slice, Lou Malnati’s Pizza. Jess Bonardi posted about a small business near and dear to her heart – and other muscles – Chimney Rock Crossfit.
60 Seconds series
Andy also shared a clip of another side of Diego we don’t often get to see or hear: his singing side! The clip came from our 60 Seconds series. You can watch all of Diego’s, as well as the rest of our senior leaders lightning-quick interviews, on our Inside Verizon and YouTube pages and on the Inside Verizon App. Download the app from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
Friends & Family
Our consumer segment marketing leader Angie Klein shared a friendly reminder about our Friends & Family program. Help your loved ones switch to the network with the best services and prices. And if you get three of your friends and family to switch in February, you will be entered to win a 5G Ultra Wideband smartphone.
Those who use even one code will be eligible to win awesome prizes like tablets, gift cards and wearables in a weekly drawing for the next six weeks. Two winners will be announced each week and the more you redeem your codes, the more entries you will have.
#Next20 Sports activism replay
Season two of #Next20 kicked off earlier this week with a powerful conversation on activism in sports. The star-studded panel of basketball pros Ray Allen, Jrue Holiday and Renee Montgomery discussed athletes' long history of speaking out for social change. You can watch the replay on VZWeb and Inside Verizon.
VZPulse Survey
The Q1 Pulse survey is underway. Every voice is important, including yours, and every piece of feedback will help us build and define our company and our future. You have until February 12 to get it done.
