Happy Tuesday V Team, on today’s edition of Up To Speed we shared a full news rundown.
RootMetrics Win
Verizon’s network is once again the network to beat for performance, accessibility and reliability in a majority of 125 metro markets tested by RootMetrics.
In these rigorous and scientific network tests, Verizon’s network is undefeated in 95% of the metro drive tests performed in the last half of 2022. And when our customers are on the go and need to be connected, they know they can count on us. Verizon is undefeated in the category of network accessibility in 90% of the markets tested.
These network successes underscore our relentless focus on innovation and continued investment to provide the very best for our customers.
Powerful upload speed
Verizon engineers continue to drive the evolution of 5G Ultra Wideband technology by achieving 1.26 Gigabits per second in upload speed.
Being able to upload data with speed is important to our everyday experience. Think about the last time you had a video chat or had to upload some urgent large files.
This significant accomplishment is yet another milestone in Verizon’s commitment to provide the best experience for our customers.

Meet the V Team
If you work at Verizon you know that our customers are our top priority, we introduced two V Teamers who are a great example of that commitment.
We shared a few beautiful pictures that were taken in Bear Mountain, a very rural area in the Klamath National Forest in Northern California.
Bear Mountain, which sees occasional hikers and campers, is so remote, it has no electrical or fiber service, so Verizon maintains service solely through generator power and microwave backhaul, an expensive and difficult way to ensure we bring our high-quality service to customers in rural areas of the country.
Recently, due to extreme snow and ice, the site suffered a temporary loss of service. And knowing visitors to the area may need communications at any time, especially for emergencies, Ron Sager and Barry Schroeder, two Network Assurance Field Engineers with experience as snowcat operators, ascended the mountain, hiking over 300 yards with snowshoes, to dig the generator and facility out from under the snow drifts and restored service for our customers.

Take the Safety Pledge today
At Verizon the V Team’s health and safety is our company's top priority.
Our leadership team and many V Teamers have signed the pledge to be safe at work, home and on the road. Safety is everyone’s responsibility and if you see something that looks unsafe make sure to speak up and say something to correct it.
You can fill out your very own safety pledge to commit to safety for those you care about and the people around you.

Christina Schelling joins us to discuss our new Leadership Principle
Towards the end of the show, Chief Talent and Diversity Officer, Christina Schelling joined us to discuss our 2023 DEI priorities. Christina shared background on our Leadership Principles explaining that they define the behavioral expectations for V Teamers and emphasize how important leadership is to our culture, to our business, and to our Credo.
She announced that this year we are building on our leadership principles to include a new principle, “Foster Inclusion.” This addition will continue to embed the expectation around inclusiveness in the way we lead ourselves and the organization.
Christina also highlighted that Verizon’s commitment to Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion is core to who we are and it begins with us all modeling a shared accountability to seek out and incorporate unique differences and perspectives of V Teamers at all levels, across the organization.
Christina ended by emphasizing that our principles and expectations have never been stronger or more actionable and encouraged the V Team to review the leadership principles as we continue to create and contribute to a culture that fosters inclusion each and every day.
