Storm update

Build the Future Idea Challenge winners announced
Our Build the Future Challenge pushed V Teamers to find technology solutions to help individuals and businesses adapt during and after the pandemic. Our 5G Lab team, with the help of Verizon experts and senior leaders, narrowed down more than 1,300 submissions to three winning entries. You can read about each of them on VZWeb.
The winning ideas advance to prototyping this summer for potential implementation in the fall. We’ll also make a $10,000 donation to an approved COVID-19 Relief Organization at the recommendation of the winning teams. Congratulations! We’re super proud of all of your creativity and ingenuity! Thanks to all the teams who took part.
Speaking of awards…
Check out this tweet from JD Power, “Congratulations to Verizon for ranking highest in the very small business segment of the J.D. Power 2020 U.S. Business Wireline Satisfaction Study!”
Important to note is the timing of the study - April and May, during the first wave of the pandemic. It shows our focus on serving our customers during this challenging time. Great to see our teams continuing to rack up awards.
News from our 5G First Responder Lab
Our 5G First Responder Lab just announced five new companies that have been selected to help develop 5G-enabled solutions for emergency medical services. Congrats to Biotricity, Rave Mobility Safety, Dispatch health, Vuzix and Visionable. They’ll focus on solutions along the patient journey, from emergency response to treatment and recovery. Teams will work alongside Verizon 5G specialists and engineers on our 5G Ultra Wideband network.
Our first Next 20 conversation
At Verizon, it’s not just about building the future through technology, it’s about creating a vision for that future, through conversation and connection. We got a taste of that commitment during the first Next 20 episode, focused on what needs to change about the criminal justice system.
Rave Family Block Fest
Did you hear about the music/dance festival happening right now on Minecraft? Rave Family Block Fest is a four-day music and dance festival featuring over 900 artists performing across 65 virtual stages. We’ve heard reports of some tech issues during yesterday’s opening shows. Hopefully those get worked out as virtual music concerts on gaming platforms continue to draw massive crowds. To learn more, check out our article on LinkedIn and let us know if you think this is a pandemic fad or the next big thing.
