On today’s episode of Up To Speed, we started the week with some lightness, as Andy, Jess and the gang hosted the 2020 Up To Speed Awards. The big event was broadcast live from Hollywood, or rather, taped from the homes of our hosts.

But before the ceremony began...

Open Signal Awards

Jeremy kicked off the episode with news of yet another real award: Opensignal, in its latest Mobile Network Experience Report, awarded us the best video experience for streaming for a fourth consecutive time.

Up To Speed Awards

Perhaps the most notable award of the event was presented by Jess: Best Performance By a Purpose Coin Champion. The nominees included:

  • Aamil Malik, an Associate Director of Security Ops in Chennai, India, is an Army veteran who was recognized for providing a safe and secure workplace for Verizon India employees.
  • Mary Lou Lopez, a Lead Engineer from Temple Terrace, FL, who has been volunteering with End 68 Hours of Hunger to deliver food and toiletries to her local school in Florida for students in need. She has volunteered with her family throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to be sure that kids are getting the supplies they need.
  • Marquise Francis, a Yahoo News Producer and co-lead for the BOLD employee resource group. Marquise earned his Purpose Coin for bringing awareness to untold stories during the pandemic and for highlighting key stories in the newsroom. If you missed it, Marquise just hosted the first episode of Next 20, which focused on criminal justice reform.

Not only were all three winners, but all of our more than 1,000 Purpose Coin champions from across the globe were winners!

There were many other awards that were of a sillier nature, including best pet photo, best work-from-home workstation and best trick shot. You can catch all the winners by watching the video.
