Happy Monday, V Team! On today’s edition of Up To Speed live, host Raquel Wilson was joined by special guests to discuss our overall network strategy and some of the many ways we’re spreading the good news of Verizon across the country.

Investing in our network’s strength

Citing local population surges and trends tied to the COVID-19 pandemic, we recently announced an additional $149 million in financial investments to meet growing network demands in Florida and an additional $97.9 million to our local capital spending in Texas.

Vice President of East Access Engineering George Riggins elaborated on these investments and our overall network strategy. He also explained how investments include network solutions that help first-responders navigate hurricane season.

Honoring military service

In addition to his outstanding work for our company, George also has delivered commendable service to our country.

In the spirit of Military Appreciation Month, we took the opportunity to thank George for his military service. Serving in the U.S. Army as an attack-helicopter pilot and war planner, George reflected on his military experience and how it’s helped him throughout his career at Verizon.

Verizon VALOR LinkedIn Live event

In other Military Appreciation Month news, Verizon’s VALOR (Veterans and Advocates Leading Organizations Responsibly) Employee Resource Group will be hosting a LinkedIn Live event, “Aligning With Our Allies,” today at 3 p.m. ET.

Tami Erwin, CEO of Verizon Business Group and VALOR’s Executive Sponsor, will moderate the panel discussion. Her distinguished guests include Major General Garrett Yee, Major General Jeff Holmes, and our very own V Teamer and U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel Lauren Schulz. These veterans will discuss the challenges they encountered when transitioning to a civilian workplace, the importance of businesses supporting those who continue to serve, and the age-old balancing act of managing life and work. Be sure to join this important LinkedIn Live event. You can add the event to your calendar by clicking here.

Local news matters

Raquel also was joined by a fellow member of our communications team, Andrew Testa. A Public Relations Manager, Andrew elaborated on how the local communications team is tasked with telling Verizon’s story through regional media, and educating consumers about how our products and services make their lives better.

The local communications team is laser-focused on spreading the word about our latest promo. Since the launch of this latest promo, they’ve filmed more than 20 local broadcast segments that have aired in top markets, including recent stories in New York City, Chicago and Denver.

Speaking of that promo: Right now, we’re giving all customers, new and current, up to $800 in value to cover the cost of a new 5G phone with any unlimited plan! To learn more about our awesome promotion, click here.

2022 Data Breach Investigations Report
