On today’s episode of Up To Speed, we meet V Teamer Ricardo Gattas-Moras. Ricardo has been part of the Verizon family for 15 years. He began his career in Houston as a part time specialist for a SWAT (Store within a store) kiosk and is now a Senior Manager in the Employee Experience Engagement Strategy team in Austin. He says working at Verizon quickly evolved from being his first job to his first career.
Ricardo met his husband eight years ago and they both decided to embark on the process of adoption to expand their family. Ricardo says the lengthy process, although worth it, requires a great deal of emotional and financial investment. He credits Verizon’s Family Assistance and Reimbursement Program for helping them make their dream a reality. By taking advantage of the $10,000 offered by the Reimbursement Program, Ricardo and his husband were able to offset some of their costly private adoption agency costs.
Ricardo and his husband are now proud parents to two children. He’s also grateful that Verizon’s paid parental leave benefits have allowed him to take time off to spend with his family. “It meant the world to be able to have that time to focus around being a parent and bonding with our kids, it’s something that’s really special, to get to enjoy moments that I’ll never forget.”
