On today’s Up To Speed Live, Andy was joined by Hans, Kyle, Diego, Guru, Tami and Ronan to discuss yesterday’s big announcements. Not only did Apple introduce its first 5G phones, but we announced our 5G Nationwide network and the expansion of our 5G Ultra Wideband.
Hans Vestberg: “Yesterday was an important day, but the work started years ago. Every part of our organization was part of yesterday’s launch. Through our collective hard work, our perseverance, our ability to deliver what we had promised, that’s what made yesterday’s historic moment possible. People are realizing we continue to lead in this market. It’s a long journey and the game is just beginning.”
Kyle Malady: “This is the power of Verizon 5G. As Tim Cook said, we’re at the beginning of a brand new age. I’m so proud to lead the team that continues to build 5G the right way. Using the iPhone 12 in Ultra Wideband markets, customers can expect speeds up to 25 times faster than 4G LTE. We are doubling download speeds in some locations topping 4 Gbps! And, Ultra Wideband is in 50 cities and we’re looking to expand to 60 more by the end of 2020.”
Diego Scotti: “This is a huge moment for the brand. We've been working towards this for a long time. I’m thankful to the marketing team for all of their work. One of the things I’m most excited about is this is one of the largest and broadest campaigns we’ve ever done. Our story is very clear. It’s about the coverage, reliability and unprecedented performance of our 5G ultra wideband. I couldn't be more proud of our company, our employees and our brand, and I'm incredibly excited to be part of this historic launch.”
Guru Gowrappan: “First let me say that ad was amazing. And, let me extend my thanks and congratulations to the Network team to get to this point. Our 5G network is at the foundation of some of Verizon Media’s most ambitious projects. Those experiences you mention, from sports, gaming, to journalism, it’s no secret the way we consume media in those spaces get exponentially better with ultra fast speed, low latency, and massive capacity. You’ve heard me say it before, but 5G is going to completely disrupt entertainment and the media industry. It will transform how we connect and transact.”
Tami Erwin: “My mask is camo because it’s time to go, fight, win. When you dissect yesterday’s announcement, seeing Hans on stage at the keynote, receiving such a huge endorsement from Apple, it represents incredible momentum as we continue to show why our 5G network is the very best. We’re already working with companies like Corning, Team Penske, the U.S. Department of Defense, and so many others to unlock the power of 5G to change everything from manufacturing to healthcare. Now they can see 5G use cases in real life. This is such a big reason why our customers will continue to turn to us when they’re looking for the very best 5G business solutions.”
Ronan Dunne: “This is such an exciting time. What’s really important is that we’ve aligned the planets. Now we have the opportunity to sell the 5G Nationwide network. Now we have no barriers. It’s a transformative moment. It shows our customers once again why our 5G network is impossible to ignore as we deliver unparalleled customer service and the best experiences. We need to seize the moment. This endorsement from Apple is a reflection of our team’s hard work, and it means we can, together with Apple, usher in the new era of mobile to consumers. A partnership like this sends a clear message to consumers - that our 5G network represents strength, reliability, and the technical capabilities worthy of that 5G icon.”
