Cross-Country Town Halls

You may have caught our leaders visiting with local V Teamers in Richardson, TX; Cary, NC; Boston, MA, and many more locations.

During a recent visit in Richardson, President of Global Networks and Technology Joe Russo, alongside his leadership team, hosted a town hall answering questions. The team got to tour one of our labs and got a lesson in fiber optics from Joe Russo himself and visited a retail store in Southlake, TX, meeting V Teamers and Coastal Plains Market President Michelle Miller.

In Boston and Cary, Craig Silliman and his leadership team also hosted a town hall – and a store visit – and the V Team brought the energy.

SOMOS

To kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, SOMOS, our employee resource group (ERG) amplifying the voices of Latinx V Teamers, has a month of festivities planned. Raquel invited SOMOS’ Joe Nieves to discuss this year's theme: Todos SOMOS, SOMOS UNO: We Are All, We Are One.

Joe said this theme “reinforces the diversity inherent within the Hispanic community, as well as the power that comes from being a united community.” It also highlights the need to ensure “diverse voices and perspectives are welcomed in the decision-making process to build stronger communities” – all things that Verizon is committed to and stands by.

Joe described how SOMOS “represents the voice of the Hispanic and Latinx community and its allies at Verizon. We represent 20 countries and territories, with deep vibrant traditions and a wide variety of cultures.”

Vandana Venkatesh, who is the executive sponsor for SOMOS, joined Raquel to discuss Hispanic Heritage Month and to support the month-long events.

Global Choice

Global choice is an international long-distance calling plan that allows individuals to choose from 140 countries and get up to 300 minutes.

Customers can get Global Choice for $10 a month, per line, per country. Verizon employees on the employee phone program can get Global Choice for $5/mo with the Verizon employee discount.

Joe believes “it’s great that many of the Global Choice countries celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, including Costa Rica, El Salavador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Chile and Mexico.”

90s Pop Tour

Over the weekend, Verizon partnered yet again with the 90s Pop Tour concert in Las Vegas, engaging with over 6,000 fans to Kickoff Hispanic Heritage Month and celebrate Mexican Independence Day.

We also got a chance to work with two of the artists to surprise and delight customers with tickets to the concert at a local Verizon store.

Tune in to a special episode of Up To Speed tomorrow at 2 pm ET for a surprise you won’t want to miss.
