Nifty idea, not a lot of practical use or support - LG's last hurrah

Dareitus - 1 day ago

At the end of the day the LG Wing is a nifty gimmick without a lot of practical uses. The unique design introduces as many problems as it solves with limited software availability and sub-par specs. I've had the phone since it's release about 6 months ago. The problems were apparent immediately, when the heavily advertised custom web browser was not available (and STILL isn't available to my knowledge) that actually took advantage of the dual screens. The vast majority of apps do not support dual screen functionality or experience errors when displayed on the bottom screen, effectively making the bottom screen little more than a convenient handle. The only "practical" use I've found for the swivel screen is watching videos while chatting in messenger or typing up bills in my company Salesforce app. Even if the gimmick was more useful (and I have to admit, it's still satisfying to swivel) support for the phone both 3rd and 1st party is non-existent. There is only ONE full cover case available for the phone, with the majority only protecting the back. They all have the shortcoming of needing to be "stuck" to the phone with adhesive rather than snapped on because of the swivel design. This leads to ineffective cases and, after 6 months a flat dropped caused a hairline crack in my front screen that disabled the bottom half of my touchscreen and the fingerprint scanner. I have insurance so I can pay the $200 for a new one, but low and behold they are on backorder. I'm at a week+ now without a phone with no clear answer as to when I can get one. Which brings us to the final point - the years have not been kind to LG and they are exiting the mobile business. Do not expect any updates for this phone. Do not expect stock for replacements to be readily available. LG has given up. And you should give up on the Wing too.

Madcustomer - 6 hours ago

I am on the 4th phone!! After 3 weeks, the green screen of death happened AGAIN!! When I sent it back to LG, they told me to send the phone back. I did, and then they received it and told me they would charge me because it came damaged! They meant the green screen. Thats why I sent it in!! They finally did fix it, but its been 3 weeks, and now this phone has a green screen and won't work! It is NOT worth the hassle! Don't buy it!
