Military and veterans - Mobile account discounts and services FAQs

We offer military discounts to all US active duty, retirees, veterans, current or former Guard or reserve, and Gold Star family members and next of kin.

Visit our Verizon Plan Discounts for Military page to start your discount registration:

1. Click Verify military status to verify your eligibility for the military discount.
2. Click Get Started to start the ID.me* verification process using your ID.me credentials.
   1. If you're not signed up for ID.me, you're taken through a short registration process.
   2. ID.me works with all web browsers except Internet Explorer.
3. Once validated, you're automatically sent to the Discounts by Verizon wireless page.
4. Choose New to Verizon and follow the prompts to sign up for your discount.

If you qualify, we'll send you an email confirmation. The discount will begin appearing on your bill 1-2 billing cycles after verification.

If you're already a Verizon customer, here's how to register for the military phone plan discount:

1. Click Verify military status to verify your eligibility for the military discount.

Military personnel, veterans and first responders can also sign up in a Verizon retail store.

No. You can’t combine our military discount with Deals at Work, Student, or other Those Who Serve discounts.

However, in addition to our Military Discount, you can save with our Auto Pay and paper-free billing discount, and our Mobile + Home Discount.

To register and validate military service, the person applying for the discount must be both:

• The military member or Gold Star Family member
• The Verizon Account Owner or Account Manager

Once you’ve qualified for the discount, you apply it to up to 4 mobile lines on your account.

Yes. Gold Star next of kin can register for the military discount.

Use the DD Form 214 to validate eligibility for the military discount. Visit our registration how to section for details about signing up for the discount program with this form.

When you have Verizon Home Internet, you may also be eligible for our Mobile + Home Discount.

*Fios is currently available in key metro areas in these states: New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and in Washington DC.

No annual renewal is required for our military discount, though we may request revalidation from time to time.

Keep in mind: Verizon will never contact you unprompted to ask for sensitive information.

The federal Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) provides certain protections to spouses and dependents of service members. If you are a spouse or dependent of a service member that has passed away or was seriously injured while in military service you may:

• Cancel service without an Early Termination Fee.
• Cancel any remaining Device Payment Agreement balances. Requires return of devices in good working condition.

To be eligible to to cancel service and/or device payments, service members:

• Must have passed away or been seriously injured while in military service.
• Must be from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force, Reserves, commissioned corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration or the commissioned corps of the Public Health Service.

If you are eligible to cancel and you would like to cancel service:

• Contact Us - Chat, “we call you”  and contact us options.
• Visit us in a Verizon Company Store -  Find a Verizon Company Store near you.
  • Enter your ZIP Code.
  • Make sure you select a “Verizon Company Store” from the available options.

To validate eligibility under the SCRA, provide a copy of one of these:

• Dependent/Rapid ID
• Proof of Tricare Eligibility
• Marriage Certificate
• Birth Certificate
• Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI) assignment as a spouse or child

If the service member passed away, include one of these:

• Death Certificate
• Cremation documentation
• Burial permit
• Legal estate documentation
• DD Form 1300 for military

For serious injury, include one of the following:

• Military Doctor Unit Letterhead or civilian doctor letterhead that includes the below:
  • Service member’s name
  • Catastrophically injured / Terminally Ill / Debilitating Condition
• Any military document saying the service member has been catastrophically injured or ill.
• Military documentation showing medical discharge
