FiOS Internet

What is POP, POP mail, and what are POP email clients? POP (or POP3) stands for Post Office Protocol and is the standard Internet protocol for receiving email. POP is what allows you to download mail from the Verizon mail server into your email "client," or email software. The server stores your messages when you are not connected to the Internet. When you open your email box and send a request to get new messages, the messages are moved from our server to your computer.

POP mail is the term we use to describe the email address that comes with your Verizon Online service. POP email addresses can be accessed through a Web page or through your POP email software, such as Outlook Express and Netscape®. POP email software is usually more feature-rich and allows for greater personalization.
