Happy Friday! Katie hosted today’s Up To Speed and shared the following:
The latest Verizon Media Group Real Talk
Wednesday’s VMG Real Talk offered a range of perspectives on policing, protesting and social justice. Guests included Eric Adams, Brooklyn Borough President, Michael Mata, Dallas Police Association President, as well as Verizon’s own Chief Security Officer Mike Mason and VMG’s Senior Director of Diversity & Inclusion Ram Jean-Louis. You can catch the replay here.
Voices from the field: Vikas Sharma
Meet an exceptional V Teamer who bridges two worlds: By day, Vikas Sharma works as a Manager in Business Development and Planning. Growing up in India with an interest in reducing traffic congestion, Vikas now helps shape the future of transportation, with a vision of using 5G technology along with cell phones to act as smart sensors. This will avoid the enormous infrastructure cost of putting sensors in the roads.
As if that isn’t moving the world forward enough, Vikas started volunteering at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in California. With his knowledge of traffic and technology, his superiors urged him to join the department full time. While he wanted to stay at Verizon, he completed his police academy training to become a sheriff’s deputy. He typically serves two shifts a month on his personal time. Vikas, thank you for all you do!
My Why: Amanda Kegley
Speaking of exceptional, today’s installment of My Why features Amanda Kegley, a multi-talented District Manager in Irvine, CA. She appreciates the spirit of her co-workers, working for an inclusive company that is active in the community, and the personal and professional development she’s been able to achieve during her 12 years at Verizon. Amanda, thanks for being a key part of the V Team!

Be sure to catch the next edition on Tuesday, August 18, at 3 PM ET/12 PM PT. Sibile Marcellus from Yahoo Finance hosts a two-part panel on how small businesses can rise up and rebuild. You won’t want to miss it.
Friends & Family
Have you shared your Friends & Family code yet? Well, you’ve still got time. Jeremy spoke with Haley Stewart of the Telesales group in Greenville, SC, to get some tips on how to do it. She recommends finding out what a person’s interests are since we offer a variety of plans, including Mix and Match. Depending on the plan, we also offer Apple Music, Disney+, and an autopay discount when using your Verizon Visa Card.
So what are you waiting for? Get your codes right in the My Verizon app or through VZWeb and the Street.
Another good reason to choose Verizon? Verizon Up, of course. Right now, customers can get more amazing accessories and discounts by using the My Verizon app. But great deals aren’t the only Up news. Our customers donated $2 million to No Kid Hungry in the second quarter, and contributed to other charities like the American Red Cross, The Arbor Day Foundation, Donors Choose and more. Nicely done!
