Meet an exceptional V Teamer who bridges two worlds: By day, Vikas Sharma works as a Manager in Business Development and Planning. Growing up in India with an interest in reducing traffic congestion, Vikas now helps shape the future of transportation, with a vision of using 5G technology along with cell phones to act as smart sensors. This will avoid the enormous infrastructure cost of putting sensors in the roads.
As if that isn’t moving the world forward enough, Vikas started volunteering at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in California. With his knowledge of traffic and technology, his superiors urged him to join the department full time. While he wanted to stay at Verizon, he completed his police academy training to become a sheriff’s deputy. He typically serves two shifts a month on his personal time. Vikas, thank you for all you do!
