How do you do the holidays?

We shared their responses in a new article on VZWeb, titled “How do you do the holidays?”

Take a look to learn something neat about our leaders and share your own holiday traditions in the comments section. Jennifer shared that her favorite holiday tradition is watching the Radio City Christmas Show in New York City.

5G Mobile Edge Compute and drones help the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

This week, Verizon announced a meaningful 5G Mobile Edge Compute drone initiative with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

As part of this collaboration, which is taking place at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, 5G Mobile Edge Compute technologies and drones are helping hospital staff better assess critical needs and facility infrastructure.

This is a great example of how Verizon is working with the public sector to help improve the quality of life for those who have served us so well.

The Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team provided mission critical communications all year round

Whether it was in the wake of the devastation left by Hurricane Ian or during another active wildfire season, the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team was on the ground throughout 2022 ensuring first responders on the front lines had the mission-critical communications capabilities they needed when they needed them most.

This team was deployed nearly 700 times to 49 states this year alone. During these deployments, the team delivered nearly 5,500 Verizon Frontline devices and solutions to first responders from close to 750 different public safety agencies.

V Teamers celebrate 40 years of Business in the Community with King Charles III

It's not every day you get to stand in Westminster Hall with a member of the Royal family.

But for a couple of our lucky V Teamers in London, they found themselves doing just that with His Majesty, King Charles III in Westminster as they celebrated 40 years of the charity, Business in the Community.

King Charles III is patron of Business in the Community - a British business community outreach charity responsible for promoting responsible business and corporate responsibility to create a fair and sustainable world in which to live and work.

V Teamers have volunteered more than 500k hours in 2022

This year, our V Team Volunteers participated in more than 500K volunteer hours in 2022.

We saw people coming together in our offices all around the globe, making personal connections and taking steps to make the world a better place.

Since we started on this journey in 2019, we have completed more than 1.5 million hours toward our goal of 2.5 million by 2025.

But this is about more than just hitting our corporate goals - it's about uplifting others, extending a hand, and bringing care and kindness to those in need.

Whether it's planting trees, transcribing notes, or reaching out to those in need, you showed up for the community and for that we thank you.

If you still want to volunteer, you can by finding a cause that’s meaningful to you in our Citizen Verizon Volunteers Portal. All volunteer hours for the 2022 program year must be registered in the Citizen Verizon Volunteers Portal no later than 11:59 PM EST on December 31, 2022.

Business Markets East Holiday Toy Effort

On December 15, for the 4th year, Mark Tina, Vice President of Business Sales for Verizon Business and several members of his organization led a toy drive in Pennsylvania delivering toys to over 65 families.

Each year, we partner with the Town of Wilson, PA and its Police Department for this effort and last year, the town mayor escorted our team throughout town.

Ways you can take care of yourself this holiday season

It’s important to take care of yourself all year round but especially during the busy holiday season. Here are a couple of ways Verizon makes it easier for you to take some time for yourself:

  • Take vacation time if you have any left. You can carry over vacation, but remember your maximum vacation accrual balance can’t exceed 175% of your annual benefit level at any time during the year.
  • For our global management employees, take some time out for your mental health by using your 5 free counseling sessions through our Employee Assistance Program. You can call EAP, any time, day or night, at 888.441.8674 for immediate assistance.
  • Now you can also give your career a gift with a boost from our new My Career page, which houses all your performance and development resources in one centralized location.
  • And ladies, the gifts don’t have to stop with the holidays. In 2023, invest in yourself by throwing your hat in the ring for our Women of the World 2023 career development program. The application window opens Jan 5. Check out how our WOW program has made a difference in some of our V Teamers lives.
  • And lastly, remember that for the U.S. V Team, we have free backup care 24/7 through the end of the year. This is an incredibly useful resource to have especially when your regular caregiver isn’t available.

V Teamer Katrina Neal is a big fan of this program – she’s been using backup care for over 10 years with all three of her boys. She shares that as a single mom this program has given her peace of mind and she’s so grateful to work for a company that cares not only about their employees but their families too.
