Happy Monday! On today’s Up To Speed, host Diana Alvear shared the following updates:
Congrats to the Class of 2021!
Diana had previously sent out a call for graduation photos and we received a wonderful response. It was so great to see so many happy families and graduates of all ages, especially after the difficult year. Of course, much of this year’s learning was done at home, and thank goodness we were able to stay connected via Verizon’s reliable 4G and 5G networks. It wasn’t the funnest of years, but the students showed up, studied and passed, and now you deserve something special.
Gifts for grads and others, too!
If you’re like Diana and on the hunt for gifts, look no further than Verizon ‒ online or in store. Show your graduate how proud you are by giving them a new 5G phone and you’ll get a second one on us, plus the best entertainment, and we’ll even help cover the cost to switch to Verizon as your carrier with a select trade in and Unlimited plan.
Is your kid a gamer? We’ve got Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass on us. A music lover in the house? How about Apple music and their 50 million song library, ad free, on us.
We’ve also got great deals going on right now on tablets and accessories including some very cool smart watches.
And please keep those photos coming. Send them to us at good@verizon.com and tag us on social at @InsideVerizon on Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
Celebrate your Pride
Did you know that, according to a 2020 Gallup survey, nearly 6% of the U.S. adult population identifies as LGBTQ? That’s 18 million Americans who are our family members, friends, neighbors and coworkers.
June is Pride month and a good reminder to support our LGBTQ community all year long. We hope you’ve enjoyed some of the great events of the past couple weeks, and there are more still to come, including two discussions that you won’t want to miss.
Our ongoing conversation around Pride education will take place tomorrow. Sandy Gould, Verizon Media Global Head of Talent, will be the special guest and the discussion will include the importance of not masking our identities, the use of pronouns, and the importance of allyship. That’s tomorrow at 5 PM ET/2 PM PT and here’s the link to join.
On Thursday, there’s a Proud Parents panel discussion featuring Verizon Business CEO Tami Erwin along with Sara Cunningham, who is an author, activist and founder of the non-profit organization Free Mom Hugs. The discussion will focus on ways for allies to care for LGBTQ people in non-ideal relationships with their parents. That’s Thursday at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT and here’s the link to join.
Kindness coming to Up To Speed
Tomorrow, you will definitely want to tune in for some kindness. What’s the kindest state in America? How can we continue to heed #ACallForKindness? We’ll reveal it all on tomorrow’s Up To Speed!
