In today’s edition of Up To Speed Live, we celebrated Verizon’s 23rd birthday and went over some exciting additions to the Verizon employee experience.
Inside Verizon Intranet
Yesterday, we launched Inside Verizon Intranet, a new, simpler employee intranet experience that combines VZWeb and About You into one employee homepage. For more details on navigating that experience, check out the welcome page.
Mid-Year Reviews
Management employees using V Team Central can begin entering their accomplishments from now until the July 14th deadline. People leaders will then review and input their feedback, and hold performance and development discussions by August 11th.
Be sure to review the mid-year email you received yesterday for your detailed to-dos, and visit our new Inside Verizon intranet, where you’ll find an article with even more details and resources.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
Summer is in full swing here and in many countries, and now is a perfect opportunity to use your saved-up vacation days, annual leave or holiday entitlement.
To access your time off, click on your profile photo on our new Inside Verizon Intranet, and then click on the View Paid Time Off link, where you can view your paid time and request time off. Be sure to discuss your plans with your manager.
If you need more info on our guidelines, including vacation accrual, search for “time off” on the Inside Verizon intranet, or contact our HR Answers team.
V Teamers can engage with HR Answers through V Team Central. V Teamers create a case (that's the Workday lingo), and then the team does its thing. Transparency all the way with ticket progress, conversation and closure.
There's a couple ways to access HR Answers:
Inside Verizon
- Search for "HR Answers" or "create case"
- Scroll down to the Help section and click HR, then HR Answers
- Click the "Chat with us" and type a Q or even “HR Answers"
Within V Team Central
- Search for Create case
- Click the Workday digital assistant
Atlanta Hawks
Recently, 17-year NBA veteran, former Atlanta Hawk and three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams, surprised mother-daughter duo Evana and Zoe Oli, founders of Beautiful Curly Me, with a $10,000 grant at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs.
Zoe, who at 10 years old is already a CEO and author, inspires confidence in Black and brown girls through play with natural hair Black dolls, empowering books, STEM puzzles and hair care accessories.
This grant was provided by the Verizon Small Business Digital Ready program, a free online curriculum designed to give small businesses personalized tools to succeed in the digital economy. Our goal through Citizen Verizon is to help 1 million small businesses by 2030.
Verizon Business Partnerships
Verizon has added top automotive brand BMW to its roster of connected-car partners.
For just $20 a month, Verizon customers can get voice, data, unlimited Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity and two all-new BMW-exclusive special features: Multi-Vehicle Connect and Number-Share Vehicle.
GN&T Upgrades
Verizon customers in cities across Texas and Oklahoma now have access to higher speeds and greater capacity from our award-winning 5G network. We also made major upgrades to the network serving customers in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Some of these upgrades included deploying new cell sites to extend coverage and capacity in local communities, adding more capacity on fiber optic cables and more.
In the Carbon County Area of Pennsylvania, we upgraded the service in Jim Thorpe, a popular tourist destination for white water rafting on the Lehigh River. These upgrades are part of a multi-year network redesign ensuring we keep giving customers the best possible experience.
Brand Experience award
Verizon Consumer Group (VCG) has been awarded a 2023 Brand Experience Award in the Last Mile & Fulfillment Experience category.
This award recognizes the smartest brands that deliver on last-mile promises. Chief Sales Officer, Kelley Kurtzman, received the award on behalf of VCG at the awards ceremony held during the Retail Innovation Conference and Expo in Chicago.
We received awards for our third-generation My Verizon app, express lockers and our trade return choice program, which all demonstrate that Verizon continues to invest in new solutions to meet customers when, where and how they want to do business.
Another big award
Verizon recently earned a place on Seramount’s 2023 Best Companies for Multicultural Women list and ranked among the coveted Top 10. This honor recognizes the Top 80 companies that create and use best practices in hiring, retaining, and promoting multicultural women in the United States.
Traci Sanders, VP & Global Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, accepted the award at the Seramount Multicultural Women’s National Conference, where she also served as a guest speaker.
