Happy Friday! On today’s Up To Speed Live, host Diana Alvear shared the following updates:

Up To Speed recap

Monday: We were inspired by Kathy Grillo, Senior Vice President on our Public Policy team and a three-time breast cancer survivor about her decision to undergo a double mastectomy, as well as Neil Breitenbach’s journey with breast cancer.

Tuesday: Andy gave us a ride in a Volkswagen ID.4 that is setting world’s records with the help of in-vehicle connectivity from Verizon.

Thursday: We got to know Visible’s new leader and longtime V Teamer Angie Klein and her vision for what’s next for the company.

Teaming up with Project Kuiper/Amazon

We are working with Amazon to develop solutions for unserved and underserved communities. The alliance will initially concentrate on expanding our LTE and 5G service using Amazon’s advanced low Earth orbit network of more than three thousand satellites — dubbed Project Kuiper.

Edge computing and AWS Outpost

Enterprise customers can now buy our private Mobile Edge Compute solution with AWS Outposts. We provide low lag and high bandwidth solutions by bringing compute and storage services to the edge of the network on the customer premises. This helps systems process information in near real time so customers can gain actionable data-driven insights and optimize operations.

Mobile World Congress announcements

After Verizon Business leader Sampath delivered a keynote at Mobile World Congress, he gave a run down of some of the big news we shared at the event, including our strategic partnership with Amazon and Project Kuiper (see above). Check out the replay for more details on all of the exciting announcements.

THOR in the Big Apple

Yesterday was National First Responder’s Day and Verizon Frontline celebrated by bringing our first of its kind Tactical Humanitarian Operations Response vehicle — known as THOR — to New York City. The vehicle can serve as a mobile, private Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband and MEC rapid response command center, and the demo showcased how it can assist law enforcement, firefighters, and more.

Great deal for our veterans and friends in the military

With Veterans Day approaching, we are celebrating our military and veteran families with a special offer: our Start Unlimited plan is now available for 95 dollars a month for 2 lines. These customers can also get a 5G phone on us and up to a thousand dollars to help cover the cost of breaking up with your current carrier with select trade-in and select Unlimited plans. They will also enjoy 150 dollars of in-game content with World of Warships and World of Tanks on us. Head here to learn more about these special military offers.

And stay tuned for more Veterans Day content on Up To Speed next week.

A very loved workplace

Newsweek published its inaugural "Most Loved Workplaces" list that ranked companies of all sizes and across all industries based on the programs/benefits offered to support employees and how employees feel about their company. Verizon came in at No.22. This feat is extra impressive being our first year eligible.

Snap Lenses

In time for the launch of Google Pixel 6, Verizon brought together its partners: Google, Snap and Disney, to bring fans a series of next-gen AR experiences. Fans can master the incredible superpowers of the Avengers through exclusive Snapchat AR lenses that adapt automatically to the environment. Fans can create Snaps and Stories featuring 21 unique, cinema-quality effects inspired by the Avengers. The five lenses each feature one Avengers character: Doctor Strange, Thor and Captain Marvel all have 5G Ultra Wideband effects giving them a richer, more immersive experience. Ant-Man & the Wasp and Gamora are 4G only.

The first Lens, Doctor Strange, launched yesterday and new lenses will drop every seven days. During the first four weeks, lenses will be exclusive to Verizon customers with Google Pixel devices. Later this month on the 25th, 4G lenses will be available to eligible Snapchatters, regardless of carrier. 5G lenses, which will remain exclusive to Verizon customers, will be available on all 5G-enabled devices.
