After 20 months of use

4 out of 5 rating

Steve F · 1 month ago

Yes, I'd recommend this product.

The phone is easy to use. My only complaint is the voice calling feature built into the phone. What is sadly missing is "redial" to call the last number dialed. Anytime you want to use voice dial you have to go through the whole procedure from the beginning: Press the attention button the Plantronics Voyager Legend blue-tooth headset, it responds "say a command." The options are Call <name or number>, send text <name or number>, Lookup <Name>, check <item>, and Go to <menu>. All I want is to call the last number dialed either by voice or from the keypad. The voice recognition is sad, requiring you to repeat the command several times (saying it louder and louder) until the E4810 recognizes it. I've never tried the voice command to "send text" so I don't know if that works or not. Calling Verizon on 611 is brain dead as it wants to send a text with a link and then disconnects your call. Hey Verizon wake up, not everyone has a smart phone.

Ok at very best

My beloved Gzone ravine died a year ago so I "upgraded". This thing is twice as thick and they put a rubberized coating on it with makes it difficult to get into and out of your pocket. The keys are so smooth and the click is so light it's almost impossible to tell if you pressed the button. Forget texting without looking. I can't press the number two button without sending a third of my texts prematurely. After a year of light use the battery failed. Verizon chooses not to carry that battery and they told me to "check Amazon". My dad is still using his ravine that I paid 12 dollars for 4 years ago on ebay and he has better service than I do. I hope someone decided to make a decent phone again someday but until then we flip phone users have to find the phone that sucks the least.

Phone is garbage

Kyocera is trash · 1 month ago

This phone is garbage. Manual quotes 18.5 dayv stand time but barely lasts 3 which as the phone ages will drop considerable. I will be lucky to get a year out of the phone. Kyocera customer service states that the decreased battery life is Verizon's fault. The phone is 4 months old. I was about to buy a 2nd one but not gonna happen now. Avoid this phone. You would be safer buying an older model phone on ebay and using that... good luck.

Laggy as hell

Andrew · 1 month ago

This phone CRAWLS. Whenever I try to check messages, the screen goes blank while the phone thinks for a good 10-20 seconds (no exaggeration.) I can sometimes "sneak" more quickly into the messages by scrolling through contacts, and then hitting the message button there. But this is really awful. Also, sending photos via text is hit or miss. Half of the time (no exaggeration) if I attempt to take a photo and send it via text, the system crashes in some way. It's a pity that there are literally no other flip phones out there. My older Kyocera (previous verizon) never had these problems. I can't find any support online and the manual is useless.

Disappointed · 1 month ago

I have used this type of phone for several years now. Before I lost mine last week, my phone could be ran over in the field with no issues. The one I received to replace it did not even make 5 days. Internal screens is already busted from a log dropping on the closed phone. I do not know why manufactures for anything can not leave what is good alone. Nothing is ever made the same. The newer the worse they are.

Solid flip phone. Great sound quality and battery life. Poor at texting

4 out of 5 rating

hotrod99 · 1 month ago

Yes, I'd recommend this product.

Overall this phone is a great solid flip phone. Excellent reception and sound quality. The battery seems to last the better part of a week if you don't use it a whole lot. Rugged phone -- Has rubber plugs for ports to prevent dust entry. Battery is VERY easy to replace. Supports both bluetooth and wired headsets. I had a small issue when plugging in a wired headset, the ring volume would keep going down when not in a call. I think it has to do with the resistance of the headset, it thinks you're pushing the volume down button on the headset cord even though my headset had no such button. Texting is cumbersome. If you text a lot this is not the phone for you. There are basic phones on the market now that support Bluetooth keyboards, so that's something to consider if you text a lot. The DuraXV does NOT support bluetooth keyboard. I tried. Conclusion: I would recommend this phone if you don't really text. If you do text regularly but still want a basic phone with no internet and touch screen, look for one that supports Bluetooth keyboards.

Tony, the Kyocera DuraXV Extreme does not have a full Qwerty keyboard as some touchscreen smartphones, rather a Tactile Keypad with large numbers that correspond to letters of the alphabet. This is common with many flip phones. -Joshua
