Gizmo sounds like such an amazing idea, but it fails at it's job. The GPS is terrible and only works sometimes. CS says it due to low cell reception, however, phones work fine in the same locations and we have 5G. The step counting feature only works sometimes as well - i think it's linked to the horrible GPS. Calls are normally fine but the texting is terrible. If it's going to be pre-set texts only, we need more options. The weather app never works and the 'games' are pointless. We need better options for Kids Smartwatches on the market.

I bought the watch a while back for the gps feature and calling option. The watch makes calls randomly. There is no texting option. You can only text with premade responses. Trying to charge the watch is a nightmare. You have to play with it until it connects which can take a very long time. Would not recommend.

Cheap, glitches and not worth your time

I had high hopes for this watch. The calling/texting/GPS was ok and mostly usable. The battery life fresh out of the box was 1 day, the step counter didn't work. My child would wear the watch all day and it would say he took 5 steps. It was glitchy and had a mind of its own. My son's watch randomly made a call while he was taking a test at school. His grandmother answered on speaker phone and it was extremely embarrassing for him. There isn't really a "school mode". You can either turn it on silent, which silents touch screen keys and text alerts, but does not disable calling. Or you have to completely disable the device through the app so the watch cannot be used at all. The lack of ability to turn on and off certain features was disappointing. All in all I was underwhelmed and easily decided there must be better options on the market than this thing.

We had the original gizmo watch for 4 years. I felt like a salesman for Gizmo I loved it so much. It was a near perfect product for kids. Then Verizon sent me a letter saying it will no longer support the original gizmo and we had to buy a new one. The newer version is awful. It is not made with a kid in mind. The screen broke within a week and we again had to replace it out of pocket. It is a nightmare to charge and you must treat it like a 1980’s gremlin of the same name. If you let the battery run out you have to fiddle with it for hours sometimes just to get it to accept charge. My kid is not old enough to handle remembering to keep it charged or else and I don’t want a second job of making sure it never ever ever lets the battery run out!

Disappointing

We were a bit disappointed with the text controls. It was frustrating for my nine year old to not be able to construct her own text. It would have been nice to be able to text in messages rather than having to have a separate app. We loved the school mode and the ease of turning it on/off. We also really liked being able to control her volume as she often kept it on silent. We were incredibly disappointed when the band completely wore at the six month mark making it not usable without a new band. We ended up going to a normal smart watch and utilizing parental controls.

Yes, I'd recommend this product.

We loved our gizmo watches. We only replaced to upgrade. I found it easy to call my daughter when I needed to. Likewise, she was able to reach out to me. I liked that if your child doesn’t pick up then the phone automatically opens so you can hear what’s happening at their location. I wish there was more text messages & responses that can be sent.

Hi Billie. Thank you for being a long-time Gizmo mom. We're please that you find Gizmo's auto-answer feature to be useful. Regarding the text messages, did you know that you can edit them to whatever you want? Your edited messages will sync with your daughter's Gizmo so she can pick from them in her list of messages she can send. To edit the watch's messages, in the GizmoHub app on your phone, select Messages. In Messages, tap the three vertical dots to the right of the microphone icon and select "Edit child's messages." From there, select the message you want to edit. Tap "Go" when done and the edited messages will be saved and synched to the watch.

Can they use it to call 911?

To prevent accidental false alarms by the child, Gizmo watches cannot dial 911. However, the child can Press and hold the watch's Back button to call the designated personal emergency contact.

I was under the impression my kid could unapproved calls. Mis this correct? y son is getting calls and They don't show on gizmo hub and his watch shuts down when I try to view the number.

I need to buy a new watch band strap loop for my son's gizmo watch. What size is the band? 16mm, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm?

Does this watch work outside the US, e.g. in Mexico or the United Kingdom? Can it make international calls if the number is among the 10 preprogrammed numbers?

Can you send hotos with the gizmo

GizmoWatch 2 does not have a camera. The other Gizmo models, Gizmo Watch 3 and GizmoWatch Disney Edition, do have a camera for video calls and sending photos in messages.

Is there a case or something to make the watch waterproof for a water park or swimming?

Although the watch is IP67 rated for against water for depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes, we recommend that the watch be not worn for swimming or water park. We are not aware of any accessory that would make the watch waterproof while being worn.
