The concept is great but the watch doesn’t hold a great battery. Also there’s frequently bad connection where my daughter cannot answer calls or hear. It’s a nice step before a phone but it’s cheaply made and doesn’t work very well. There are days she has to turn it off all day at school or it’ll be dead by the time she gets off the school bus which defeats the point. I still recommend it because it is useful and not very expensive but definitely glitchy which can be annoying.

Too fragile for kids
Abbey · 2 days ago
Bought 2 watches for my kids and within days both screens had cracks . My daughter’s is basically not usable due to the screen damage from a very short distance fall . Would cost more to repair than to buy another outright. Should have definitely engineered something more durable for children.
Doesn't charge
BGalvan · 7 days ago
The watch is designed in a way that makes charging very difficult and sometimes impossible. Four tiny metal prongs plug into the back of the watch face to charge it. Since the back of the watch is the part that sits up against the wrist, the charging port easily fills with grime from sweat, soap, sunscreen, etc. so that not all of the prongs make contact when you try to charge it. This would not be a big problem if the grime were easily cleaned out, but it's not. You have to take a Q-tip dipped in alcohol or scrunch up an alcohol wipe and very carefully and firmly try to clean the tiny mental circles. Sometimes it takes several minutes of cleaning and messing around with it just to get it clean enough to be able to charge. This is not acceptable for any product, but especially a product designed for young children. My daughter is almost eight years old now, but 75% of the time she needs my assistance to be able to get her watch to start charging, which is unacceptable. For the last two days, we have not been able to get the watch to charge AT ALL. Besides the charging issue, the watch can be easily turned off with a button located on the side. I do not like that feature, as it allows the child (or anyone else near the child) to easily turn the watch off. I would prefer that the watch require a passcode or some other method to be turned off and the side button only be able to silence the watch. My daughter is a very shy child and if I try to call her when she is playing with certain friends or around "big kids," and she feels "embarrassed" by the call, she can easily turn the watch off and has done so, which means I can not only no longer call her, but cannot track her location anymore. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a specific parentally-controlled devise that is marketed as a way to keep tabs on your child. I do like the concept of the watch. I would be happy with it if it would charge. It is great for a child because parents have complete control. I am able to program "silent" times from the app on my phone so that the watch will not make noise during class hours. I am able to make the watch automatically answer my call, which is useful if the child refuses to answer. It's also great that the watch can only communicate with pre-programmed numbers only. Only people programmed as guardians can send the watch texts, and it can respond either from a preset list of responses or by sending back a recorded message. All in all, it's a great idea for a very young child who is not yet mature enough to have a phone. That said, I will not be replacing my daughter's which is now not charging, unless a new version comes out with a more user-friendly way to charge it.

Thanks for sharing your feedback, we are sorry to hear the Gizmo watch has charging issue. Some tips to help --Power off the watch prior to cleaning. If you're cleaning the base charger then make sure it isn't connected to a power source. Check if the connector plates and magnetic charging points are clean. If not, clean the connection points with a Qtip, microfiber cloth, or an alcohol wipe cloth to remove the dirt. Presence of the debris and dirt on the charging points prevent them from creating a good charging connection. Do not attempt to charge until the connection points are fully dry. Regarding the signal and receiving audio issue, may we ask you to contact our Verizon Wireless customer support at tel:8009220204 OR email to:Gizmo.feedback@verizonwireless.com so we could help troubleshoot the device and offer you a suitable solution?
Hugely Frustrating- there are better products out there
DosseysLR · 10 days ago
We’ve had two gizmo watches for about 18 months now. Great concept but the technology isnt there yet. Sometimes they work great but most of the time they don’t. Sometimes they charge and other times they won’t. One watch repeatedly loses signal and continuously fails to reconnect. The receiving audio on one is totally blown out, but we can hear her perfectly fine when she speaks into it. Very frustrating. We will be trying other competing products.

Works when it wants
IrritatedMom · 19 days ago
I have two of these. One works alright, the other is a paperweight, we should already have to purchase a new one after a year. For both, the GPS is horrible, takes way to long to connect. Once it does, my son was over 15 miles away already (testing it). The one that is a paperweight, hardly ever works, Verizon message always comes on stating the customer is not in service, when in fact the two watches are side by side. Not allowing texting without the gizmo hub is a pain!

Location / GPS doesn’t work
CLN123 · 20 days ago
My 10 year old has had the watch for a month. In the last few days the location GPS service doesn’t work. It shows him bouncing all over town when he’s in fact home. I’m so disappointed. Dreading calling customer service to attempt to fix it. If I could do it over again, I wouldn’t buy it. Just adds another malfunctioning device to get frustrated with.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a monthly service fee along with the device payment.
Verizon Customer Support - 13 hours
There is no extra service fees with a Device Payment agreement. What happens with the payments, is Verizon takes the full retail price and divide it by 36 and that's what the payment will be. Does this make sense? *Debbie
