What you'll need:
Trading in your old phone?
Turn off 'Find my iPhone' on your old phone before getting started.
Step 1 Turn off your old phone
Step 2 Power on your new phone
Hold the power button until the Sonim screen appears, then release.
Step 3 Welcome
From the "Hi there" screen, select the appropriate language, then tap Start.
Step 4 Enter your Verizon PIN
If prompted, from the "Verify Your Account" screen, enter your Verizon Account PIN. Follow the onscreen prompts, then tap Next. If you forgot it, reset or create your Account PIN.
Step 5 Activate your new Sonim XP8
From the "Phone activation" screen, tap Next. Please allow a few minutes for activation to complete.
Step 6 Connect to Wi-Fi
From the "Connect to Wi-Fi" screen, select a network. Enter the password and tap Connect or Skip the step. If your network isn't shown, tap See all Wi-Fi networks.
Step 7 Transfer your stuff
Tap Copy your data and follow the steps to transfer your content. If you'd like a fresh start or would like to transfer your stuff later with the Verizon Content Transfer app, tap Set up as new.
Step 8 Sign in to Google
Sign in to your Google account or create a new one. Signing in to Google allows you to access Gmail and your Google apps.
Step 9 Name your phone
Add a name to your Sonim XP8 to personalize some apps, then tap NEXT.
Step 10 Add your fingerprint
Adding a fingerprint scan to your phone allows you to touch the fingerprint sensor to unlock it, sign into apps or make purchases. Tap NEXT, then follow the steps or tap SKIP.
Step 11 Protect your phone
Tap the appropriate option to set up a screen lock:.
- Set up a Pattern to unlock your phone by drawing a line to connect a series of dots.
- Set up a numeric PIN to unlock your phone.
- Set up a Password to unlock your phone.
- Finally, choose Skip, then tap SKIP ANYWAY to bypass setting up a screen lock.
Step 12 Set up Google services
Google offers a variety of services that help many of their apps function better. Review all of them and tap the corresponding switch to turn them on. You may need to scroll down to see all of the services. Switches are turned on when in the blue position. Tap Accept after you've turned on all the services you want.
Step 13 Additional options
From the "Anything Else?" screen, you can set up additional options such as setting up another email account. If you don't want to set up any additional options, tap NO THANKS.
Step 14 Verizon Services
From the "Verizon Services" screen, verify your settings Location info and Apps info, then tap ACCEPT to use your location and app info settings.
