Activate Your New or Certified Pre-owned Smartphone
These activation instructions are for both new and upgrading customers who have purchased a new or 4G LTE or 5G Ultra Wideband smartphone from Verizon.

- If you are bringing your own non-Verizon smartphone or need a new Verizon 4G LTE SIM card, see our Bring your own device page.
- If you have trouble making a call or using data after activation, try turning your new phone off and then on again.

Turn on your new phone and follow the onscreen instructions.
The status bar on your phone will let you know when you’re sending or using data on our 4G LTE or 5G Ultra Wideband (5G UWB) network.
Activation steps for upgrading customers
Be sure to use the SIM provided or pre-installed in your device. Using a previous SIM may result in your phone not properly activating.
