FiOS Internet

Creating a Verizon MI424WR wireless home network in Windows 7

When your FiOS Internet service was installed, your router was configured to access the Internet and use the default WEP security settings provided by the manufacturer. The default security settings are included on a label affixed to the back or side of your Verizon MI424WR router.

The process to create a wireless home network continues to get easier as new versions of Windows are released. A simplified version of the directions for creating a wireless home network in Windows 7 is provided for those who have the necessary wireless adapters installed and who are familiar with home networks.

Complete step-by-step instructions are provided for those who don’t have wireless network adapters installed, are less familiar with home networks, or who want to make changes to the default network security settings.

You also have the option of letting Verizon In-Home Agent do the work for you. In-Home Agent is an easy-to-use software that can automatically configure your laptop and PCs to connect to your Verizon Broadband Home Router and to the Internet. It provides automated networking for Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 computers.
