Entering DNS settings in the D-Link DI-624 router to opt out of DNS Assistance

  1. Open a Web browser and enter in the Address bar at the top of the screen.
  2. Enter your router user name and password into the Login screen.
Note: If you haven't changed the default user name and password, enter admin in the User Name field and leave the Password field blank.
  3. Click WAN in the left navigation panel.
  4. Before changing any DNS entries, please write down the current server addresses listed in the Primary DNS Address and Secondary DNS Address fields.
  5. Change the last octet of the Primary and Secondary DNS server addresses to 14. For example:

You look up the DNS information and the server numbers are:
    • Primary DNS
    • Secondary DNS
You would change the addresses to the following when statically assigning them to the computer or modem/router.
    • Primary DNS
    • Secondary DNS
Note that the .14 is the special set of servers that will opt you out of the DSN Assistance program.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Click Continue to confirm you want to restart the router.
  8. Close the D-Link setup window.
  9. Restart your computer.
  10. After your computer restarts, open a web browser and enter to test your new DNS settings. The Verizon home page should display.
