Why can't I receive or open attachments with MSN® Mail?

If you receive an email message with an attachment that you are unable to open or view, this is probably because MSN Premium blocks attachments if:

  • The file has no extension or an extension that is incorrect.
  • The file is one that is potentially unsafe.

To resolve this issue

  1. View MSN Mail in MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
  2. Sign in with your email name and password.

If the attachment cannot be viewed in MSN Premium because it has been blocked, you should still be able to view it when you open the message in MSN Hotmail.

Files that are potentially unsafe, and therefore blocked by MSN Premium, include:

  • ADE Microsoft Access Project Extension
  • MDB Microsoft Access Application
  • ADP Microsoft Access Project
  • MDE Microsoft Access
