Yes, I'd recommend this product.

Bought this to be my mobile workspace and entertainment center, did not disappoint! Quality build, solid screen, Dolby Atmos boosted speakers, and a flexible form factor make the use cases fascinating. Most importantly the laptop has 5g, so internet & streaming connection issues are almost non-existent. This combined with an outstanding battery life make the computer a multi day device. I also discovered this screen does support a digital pen if you decide to go in that direction. The only major flaw is also what gives the computer its great battery life, the Qualcomm Snapdragon Chip. While great for efficiency, it's not compatible with many professional music, art, and game programs. My advice is to do some homework before you buy to see if your programs will run, but otherwise this device is a winner.

My HONEST REVIEW

4 out of 5 rating

The Tech Guy · 1 months ago

So I had this for about a year and these are the PROS and CONS for this laptop. PROS: •It's ultra slim and foldable designed is perfect for quick tablet laptop conversion. •Perfect for simple task such as WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, website browsing, netlix, Disney +. •5G connection varies from location but generally it grabs 4g LTE signal often which is still quick and very useful for on the go simple task. •Very light weight and it does not have a fan since it's housing a smartphone Snapdragon chip for seamless usage. You can place this on your lap and not worry about the heat being a problem. •Battery life advertised at 20 hours but I get about 15 hours of life on this thing depending how much I am running. It can support multiple tabs but the more you multi test the more juice you will need. It has great standby time and can last anywhere between 2-4 days without a charge if left alone. •Windows Hello and fingerprint scanner works effortless. •The screen can handle 4k movies, youtube and whatever you throw at it. • You can pair your phone with this laptop and use your cell phone apps on your laptop screen like a tablet or laptop depending on your preferences. •Phone calls are available for use on this laptop. CONS: • This laptop has a 32bit processor, you can't run most software available from Microsoft. You are limited to a select few programs the store has available for 32bit. • Touch screen feature is decent but you can't properly use it to draw on as efficiently as a tablet or iPad. Even the Lenovo pens or any type of Bluetooth pen you use will not have that same smooth responsive feel compared to a Samsung Note, tablet or iPad. • This laptop is fingerprint magnet. Even the black matt finish will display fingerprint oil so I tend to whipe it frequently. • The processor is not super great as you may experience a few glitches here and there when attempting to run multiple applications. • Due to a lack of processing power when running multiple tabs you may experience a screen freeze but not often. •This laptop cannot function as a typical laptop as it's not able to be upgradable since it's internal components are sealed in place. •This laptop is main selling point is the ability to write emails, use Word applications, and surf the web on the go without the need for wifi. Scoring: 3.7/5 User friendly 4/5 Compatibility 2/5

I was between this device and a standard laptop. Chose this for the mobile network capability and wifi. There is no water damage to this device nor does it have any physical damage. However this device does have a common mechanical issue that if you look in the comments of Lenovo's site the buttons on these computers tend to come off. Today as I was typing the left small button ESC/ fnLOCK came off.

There is no mention in the description about it being 32bit which would of been nice to know that, I need 64bit to run some programs, I will be returning.

You cannot run ANY apps that are not Microsoft. This CANNOT be fixed or worked around. Every time you try to install you will get the message in the Picture I uploaded. Keep in mind it says you need a 64 bit system. This is a 64 bit system. It just blocks all non Microsoft sofware and apps.

Lenovo appreciates all feedback and thank you for taking the time to rate and review our product! We apologize for your inconvenience. Also, please consider Windows 10 in S mode. Windows 10 in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows 10 in S mode. There's no charge to switch out of S mode. 1. On your PC running Windows 10 in S mode, open Settings > Update & Security > Activation. 2. In the Switch to Windows 10 Home or Switch to Windows 10 Pro section, select Go to the Store. (If you also see an "Upgrade your edition of Windows" section, be careful not to click the "Go to the Store" link that appears there.) 3. On the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page that appears in the Microsoft Store, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you'll be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store. Very Respectfully, Adrian_Lenovo

Can you use this computer as a gaming computer for a beginner

Dokes - 9 months

I would say no way for the cash you would be spending. It can do somethings but if its for games and you dont have a primary pc to push them its not even worth it. I dont really think its worth it with that NOT for gaming.

Linnea - 11 months

Absolutely not. I would not recommend it at this price point it is a glorified tablet that freezes up running basic apps because it is running a modified windows 10 called the windows 10RT that forces the applications to run in like a containerized state. My simple Microsoft Word documents cause the application to fail while simply doing homework. Great for surfing the net but not much else sadly.

Does it have HDMI port

Linnea - 11 months

It does not have an HDMI port but they have a really good mini hub dock at BestBuy that will get you from the USB-C to 2 HDMI, an RJ-45, and 2 standard USB ports. The device only has 2 USB-ports (one is for power!!) and a speaker/min port so you’d want to use the remaining port wisely. The dock allows power to go through it to the PC to give you back one of your USB-C ports.

if the ram is soldered onto the ssd, and i wanted to upgrade the ram, could I get around this by completely replacing the sdd? If so how hard would this be?

its farely easy bud, take off old ram put on bigger resolder, but you shouldnt have to solder it should slide out like the dual/single card on an sli link, the hard drive has nothing to do with the ram in that respect

Yes, especially when the device is connected to our 5G Ultra Wideband network, or a good Wi-Fi connection. Both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx processor and Qualcomm Adreno 680 Graphics Processor work well for gaming, on the Lenovo Flex 5G.

Is the Lenovo FLex 5G truly a laptop or a chromebook ?

Linnea - 11 months

I didn’t like the answer they gave. Though it is “supposed” to be like a laptop it cannot run the real Windows 10 despite what it touts! It is Windows 10RT which means a TON of incompatibility issues. Adobe doesn’t work properly, the anti-virus I wanted to use is all confused, applications run in a container like structure and crash constantly. I got it for my homework but Word crashes at least 2-3 times while mid sentence. The lack of ability to get it in an available storage above 256GB says to me this is just a glorified tablet more like a Chromebook than a real laptop. I’d never be able to run a VM on here for any of my research as this solely serves me as a temp solution until I can afford the one I need which is sadly still a lot more than this one.

It works for both 4G LTE and 5G. Just beware it charges it as a hot spot and not like an unlimited device like my iPad. I used all my 30GBs of 5G/4G data just getting the thing started with all the updates and software I needed to install now it cannot even get a single Mbps.
