This week’s edition of My Why features Jhonathan Montenegro, a senior manager for network real estate who’s a globetrotting soccer fan, new dad, and a Verizon 5G builder who runs to a crisis.

After Hurricane Michael, a Category 5 hurricane, devastated communities in Florida, Jhonathan led about 150 V Teamers in regional recovery efforts. “Over a two- or three-month time period, I was leading a team of 150 people, going through the devastation, and talking to customers in the follow-up to the hurricane,” he said. “We also delivered a 5G network, and the first 5G network in Florida, and I was a part of that. So, definitely, hands-down, that’s been my greatest achievement.”

And he’s not just a 5G enthusiast on TV, either. “5G, you’re talking virtual reality, you're talking all these different applications, and then Smart Cities that will make everybody's life much more convenient. We're going into a big-data era, and Verizon is going to take the lead on that.”
