Up To Speed Week in Review
Monday: We went back to the office with Andy live, and ran into lots of friends… a nice preview of what Work Forward will bring.
Tuesday: We introduced you to the Ardine brothers who, after losing their restaurant jobs during the pandemic, decided to turn their challenge into an opportunity to raise money for small business relief, and now rely on our network and support to help them in their journey.
Thursday: We celebrated some big wins, including our 16th consecutive RootMetrics win for overall network performance and reliability. And J.D. Power says we’re number one in Network Quality — that’s 27 times in a row, more than any other carrier. We’ve now earned more than 170 J.D. Power Awards for Network Quality over the last 17 years!
Mastercard partnership
This week, Verizon Business announced our new partnership with Mastercard to use 5G to innovate everything from contactless shopping and autonomous checkout technology to Cloud Point of Sales solutions. This includes:
- Enabling smartphones or connected devices to seamlessly accept payments
- Unlocking touchless retail shopping experiences
- Creating new ways to consume physical and digital goods
- And empowering small business digital readiness
5G Fixed Wireless Internet for Business expansion
Do you know someone who wishes they could be as connected at work as they are at home? 5G Business Internet, a fixed-wireless Internet offering for businesses of all sizes, is now available in 42 U.S. cities. Verizon Business is also offering a credit of up to $1,500 to offset early-termination fees for eligible customers switching to Verizon from another internet provider, and the previously announced ten-year price lock guarantee for eligible new customers is still in effect.
5G Business Internet is an alternative to cable Internet and includes professional installation, making setup a breeze. Customers can get broadband Internet powered by 5G Ultra Wideband with no digging, short lead time to deployment, multiple pricing and service options and unlimited data.
Verizon Connect outwits thieves
Have you ever had something stolen from you? Then you can imagine how the owners at Kentucky-based Diamond Landscapes felt when they had ten of their new trucks worth half a million dollars taken from them. Fortunately, the firm had begun using Verizon Connect Reveal fleet management software to better track assets and driver behavior. The Diamond Landscapes team was able to track the stolen vehicles, pass along the info to law enforcement and the trucks were recovered without incident. This didn’t just save money for Diamond, it saved the down time of having to find new trucks which would have really hurt their customers.

Disability win
Congratulations everyone! We earned a perfect score on the 2021 Disability Equality Index. What does that mean? We are officially one of the Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion, and we’ve done this for six years in a row!
Hans recently reinforced our commitment by signing a letter that advances disability inclusion, and we are proud to be a key partner of Disability:IN, a nonprofit that works with businesses to further expand opportunities for people with disabilities. The Index is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities and Disability:IN. Building an equitable workplace helps us succeed in moving the world forward for all.
Torched
With the Olympic games around the corner, it’s a perfect time to get to know Miyagi San from the Carrier Management team. He is based in Tokyo and had the honor of carrying the Olympic Torch as part of the Torch Relay team. Go Miyagi San, go!
Supporting V Teamers during disasters
Our hearts go out to those impacted by wildfires in the western U.S. and extreme flooding in Europe. And that’s during an already busy hurricane season. We want to remind you to help support V Teamers in need by donating to the VtoV Employee Relief Fund. Supported by your donations, the fund helps employees displaced from their homes because of natural disasters, fires or as a result of domestic violence. Learn more and donate.

Finally, if we’re talking heroes, we’ve got to talk about Rashel Graves. She is a Director of Channel Operations and Program Management at Verizon who had a recent LinkedIn post that spread among the V Team. In it, Rashel wrote: “Today, my daughter told me she needed to dress up as a hero for camp. When I asked which hero, she said mommy. Then she asked for a Verizon t-shirt. Proud mommy and V Team moment.
