Carrier billing FAQs

  • What is Carrier Billing?

Carrier Billing is an easy, convenient and secure method for purchasing digital media on your device without having to provide merchants with your credit card information. You can purchase up to $100 (per mobile number / bill cycle) in digital media, such as games, music, apps and other digital content and services from merchants selected by Verizon. Your purchases will be charged directly to your Verizon Wireless bill.

Note: You don't need to sign up for this service; it's automatically available to all eligible customers.

  • Am I eligible to use Carrier Billing?

    To use Carrier Billing:

    • You must be on a monthly consumer calling plan, in good standing.
    • Your account needs to be a personal account. Corporate, government or employee accounts are not eligible.
    • Prepaid accounts are not eligible for Carrier Billing.
    • Your wireless account should not be based in New Mexico.
    • You must be a registered user of My Verizon.
    • The line on which you want to use Carrier Billing must be able to receive text messages, and can't have the purchases and gifting blocks feature turned on.

Note: Go to the Block and Unblock Services page in My Verizon to make sure you don't have text messages or purchases and gifting blocked.

    • There's a $100 spending limit per mobile number per bill cycle.
    • Only digital media or virtual goods are eligible (e.g., virtual online gaming such as League of Legends, music, e-books, etc.).

  • How can I block Carrier Billing?

You can use the Block Purchases and Gifting feature for no charge in My Verizon to block Carrier Billing.

    To activate the block:

    1. Go to the Block and Unblock Services page in My Verizon.

    2. If you have multiple lines, select the line that you want to block purchases on.

    3. Scroll to the Purchases section.

    4. Check the Block Purchases and Gifting box.

    5. Click Continue.

    6. A pop-up window will appear to confirm that the changes were made to your account. Click OK.

  • How does Carrier Billing work?

When you purchase digital media from a participating merchant, you'll have the chance at checkout to select the "Carrier Billing" option and follow the instructions. Generally, after selecting this option, you'll need to follow these steps:

    1. When prompted, enter your mobile phone number, billing ZIP Code and email address information in the proper fields.

    2. If you're making a purchase from a website, a text message may be sent to your device with a temporary password. Enter this password in the merchant website when requested.

    3. A confirmation text and email will be sent to you containing the merchant name and purchase amount.

  • What kind of transactions can I make?

There are two types of purchase transactions you can make:

    • Standard: a one-time, non-recurring purchase of an item or service from an approved online merchant website or in-app from your device.
    • Subscription: an automatic recurring purchase that takes place monthly according to the terms for the item as defined on a merchant's website.

  • Who do I contact if I have questions regarding my bill, current balance or purchases?
