Verizon Messages (Message+) is no longer supported

The Message+ app was discontinued in December 2024. Here’s what we recommend to replace Message+.

For Android™ devices, we recommend Google Messages as the replacement app for messaging. To switch to Google Messages:

  1. Open or download Google Messages. The first time you open the app, a message appears: “To use Messages, make it your default SMS app.”
  2. Tap the Set default SMS app button.
  3. Select Google Messages. Google Messages is the white icon with the blue conversation bubble.
  4. Tap Set as default.

Google Messages is now your default messaging app. Move Google Messages to the home screen dock for easier access.

We recommend Apple Messages for iPhone® and iPad® devices.

On the local device, text messages (SMS and MMS) will remain in local storage and will be accessible from within a replacement messaging application such as Google Messages.

Message+ privacy requests - The Message+ app was discontinued in December 2024. If you are a former Message+ customer, you can request access to personal information by submitting a privacy inquiry form. We do not have information that can be corrected or deleted. You also may appeal a previously denied individual rights request decision through the privacy inquiry form. Please select I am a Verizon customer that uses or used a different product or service and then select Message+ from the dropdown list.
