This week’s My Why episode highlights Jeff Arnold, a digital-marketing manager whose fateful Verizon work trip a few years ago inspired him to lose more than 200 pounds.
“I went to a meeting in Boston, and I had the opportunity to go to the Verizon Innovation Center — so much, you know, visions of the future,” Jeff said. “I was like, ‘I want to see the future. I want to be there for, you know, my wife and kid. I want to be part of, you know, building that future.’ I really kind of used the Credo: ‘[My] best was good for today. Tomorrow, [I’ll] do better.’”
Sharing his story with My Why via Verizon’s Good mailbox, the former AT&T and Sprint employee said Verizon’s Credo motivated him to lose 100 pounds through diet and exercise. Jeff also credited Verizon’s benefits plan for giving him the time and assistance to undergo bariatric surgery, which helped him lose more than 100 more. “Night and day difference, how I feel,” he added. “It really changed my life.”
In his spare time, Jeff loves reviewing restaurants and practicing his special-effects makeup skills in the days leading up to Halloween. He’s also inspired by Verizon’s dedication to customers and to the greater good through Corporate Social Responsibility programs like Citizen Verizon: “You want to do your part — whatever [and] however you can.”
