Where can I buy an LTE Network Extender?
If you already have a Verizon wireless account, you can purchase an LTE Network Extender online.
The 4G LTE Network Extender and 4G LTE Network Extender 2 are no longer available for purchase. -
Where can I use an LTE Network Extender?
The 4G LTE Network Extender works in all 50 states, in Verizon coverage areas. It doesn't work outside of the US.
Note: The LTE Network Extender can enhance your HD Voice or 4G LTE data coverage. It's not designed to enhance 1x voice or 3G data coverage. You may need to deploy a 3G Network Extender to service older 3G and 4G LTE mobile devices that don't support the HD Voice feature and use the 1x network for voice. -
Does the LTE Network Extender require a computer?
No, the LTE Network Extender requires a broadband internet connection, but it doesn't require a computer for operation. A computer may be needed to access the local Admin web page in order to manage the device or for troubleshooting purposes.

What type of internet connection do I need for the LTE Network Extender?
The 4G LTE Network Extender works with connections that provide a minimum broadband speed of 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink. However, a broadband connection of 20 Mbps downlink or 10 Mbps uplink or higher is recommended.

Can I connect my landline phone to the LTE Network Extender?
No, the LTE Network Extender is only designed to work with Verizon 4G LTE mobile devices.

Do I have to pay additional fees to use the LTE Network Extender?
No, there are no additional monthly charges to use the LTE Network Extender. You can simply purchase the unit and enjoy the benefit of enhanced 4G LTE in-building coverage. All rates and policies associated with your current plan (including any applicable data and voice usage charges) will apply while connected to the LTE Network Extender.

I currently have a 3G Network Extender. Can I update my current 3G device to the LTE Network Extender?
No, 3G Network Extender devices and LTE Network Extender devices are separate products that can't be used interchangeably. The 3G Network Extender can't be updated to be used as an LTE Network Extender, and the LTE Network Extender doesn't support 3G data or 1x voice.

How do I know that the LTE Network Extender setup and installation is complete?
You can confirm the LTE Network Extender setup is complete in either of the following ways:
- Verify that the various LTE Network Extender components are functioning properly by checking that the LED light on the front of the device is blue.
Note: It may take up to an hour to acquire a GPS signal and get an "In Service" status. Turning off the LTE Network Extender will restart the GPS signal process and may prolong setup. If the LTE Network Extender doesn't acquire a GPS signal after 1 hour, please look in the User Guide for help with accessing the local Admin web page. - Call #48 on your mobile device and listen for an announcement saying you're on the LTE Network Extender.

Do I need to change any settings on my mobile device to connect to the LTE Network Extender?
No, the LTE Network Extender is compatible with all Verizon 4G LTE mobile devices for 4G LTE data and compatible for voice with 4G LTE phones that support HD Voice. You don't need to change any settings on your mobile device for 4G LTE data.
For voice service on older phones, you may need to enable HD Voice from your smartphone settings menu. -
Why does the LTE Network Extender's GPS antenna need to be placed near a window?
Placing the LTE Network Extender's antenna close to a window will help to acquire a GPS signal.
If the LTE Network Extender antenna can't be placed near a window or has trouble receiving a GPS signal, refer your User Guide for instructions on installing the external GPS antenna cable. -
Can I mount the LTE Network Extender on the wall or ceiling?
The LTE Network Extender is designed for desktop operation. Wall mounting brackets are sold separately for the 4G LTE Network Extender. However, it's not designed for a ceiling mount.

Why does the LTE Network Extender require GPS service?
The LTE Network Extender uses GPS service to obtain time and the device location information, which is used strictly for Emergency Services (911). It’s needed to validate that Verizon is licensed at the location and time synchronization in order for the device to function.
It doesn't provide location-based services or track you within your location. -
Can I move the LTE Network Extender within my location after it has acquired a GPS signal and setup is complete?
The LTE Network Extender needs to be connected to the GPS antenna where it can get adequate GPS signal. You can only move the device within your location to another area where there's adequate GPS signal via the GPS antenna. If you lose the GPS signal, the unit will become non-operational in less than 24 hours.

Can I cluster the LTE Network Extender to form a larger coverage area?
No, the LTE Network Extender is designed for solitary operations. If the coverage area exceeds a 50 ft. radius (about 7,500 sq. ft), the 4G LTE Network Extender for Enterprise is recommended.
Management and Security

Can I manage and limit access to the LTE Network Extender to a select set of mobile devices?
Yes. You can create a Closed Subscriber Group that limits which Verizon mobile device numbers can use your LTE Network Extender's signal.
Closed Subscriber Groups have 3 modes:- Open - Lets any Verizon customer within LTE Network Extender capacity and range connect to the Network Extender.
- Closed - Restricts access to the numbers listed in the Closed Subscriber Group (within LTE Network Extender capacity and range). Up to 50 Verizon mobile numbers can be included in the group list.
- Hybrid - Access is open to any Verizon users within LTE Network Extender capacity and range, but numbers listed in the Closed Subscriber Group have priority access.
You can set up Closed Subscriber Groups through My Verizon.
Regardless of Open, Closed, or Hybrid mode, the Network Extender can have up to 14 active users at once. 2 additional channels are reserved for 911 calls and for redirect purposes. The Network Extender covers a radius of up to 7,500 square feet. -
Do I need to enable a specific port on my router or firewall for the LTE Network Extender to work?
The LTE Network Extender uses standard ports to make a connection through the internet. It shouldn't require any special port configuration. In those rare instances where the LTE Network Extender is unable to connect to the Verizon network, you may need to open ports 50, 500, 4500, 53 and 52428. Contact your network administrator or the manufacturer of your switch, router and/or firewall for detailed instructions on how to open ports on your LAN equipment.

Will users of the LTE Network Extender be able to intercept or listen in to each other's conversations?
No, all calls using the LTE Network Extender are private and secure for everyone, just like all other users on the Verizon 4G LTE network.
Using LTE Network Extender

How do I connect to the LTE Network Extender network?
Each time you want to connect to the LTE Network Extender, your Verizon mobile device must be within 50 feet to establish a connection with its network.
Note: The coverage area required to establish an initial connection and the broader coverage area of the LTE Network Extender can't be guaranteed, and may vary due to environmental factors, such as physical structures and the strength of external tower coverage. -
How do I know if I'm connected to the LTE Network Extender network?
Call #48 from your mobile phone. If connected, you'll hear an audio announcement stating your device's connection to the LTE Network Extender.
Note: Some devices also have a visual indicator of a connection to the LTE Network Extender. -
Will my call get dropped when I move from the LTE Network Extender coverage area to an outside area?
No, your call shouldn't be interrupted when you move outside of the LTE Network Extender coverage area, if the signal strength coming from the nearest compatible tower is sufficient.

Will an HD Voice call connected to a Verizon cell tower transfer to the LTE Network Extender?
Yes, HD Voice calls initiated on a Verizon cell tower can be transferred when entering the range of the LTE Network Extender network, provided there's sufficient overlap in coverage with the cell tower. You may need to adjust the placement of the LTE Network Extender to allow for the handoff.

Will my mobile device pick up the LTE Network Extender network or the Verizon wireless network based on signal strength?
Your 4G device will automatically connect to the network with the best signal. However, in some situations, phones may prefer the AWS Band 4 capacity channel of the cell tower.
If your device is registered with the LTE Network Extender and is within its coverage area when you make or receive a call, your device will use the LTE Network Extender network.
If your device is registered with the Verizon wireless network when you make or receive a call, it will use the Verizon network. -
Will the LTE Network Extender affect the number of bars that appear on my mobile device?
Yes, once your device has registered with the LTE Network Extender, you'll notice the number of bars for the 4G LTE icon may increase.

Can I take the LTE Network Extender with me when I travel?
Yes, the LTE Network Extender can be deployed in any valid location in the 50 states, in Verizon coverage areas.
Note: The LTE Network Extender can enhance your 4G LTE data or HD Voice coverage. It’s not designed to enhance 1x voice or EV–DO coverage. -
Is Push to Talk supported by the LTE Network Extender?
Push to Talk Plus, which uses the 4G LTE network, is supported. However, legacy Push to Talk phones using 1x or EVDO networks aren't supported.

Can I make international calls with the LTE Network Extender?
Yes, you can place and receive international calls while connected to the LTE Network Extender. However, you'll still be billed for international calls according to your plan.

How will using the LTE Network Extender affect my device's battery?
Generally, when connected to the 4G LTE Network Extender, your device may experience less drain on its battery due to improved signal strength.

What happens if I lose my broadband connection to the LTE Network Extender?
The LTE Network Extender requires an active broadband internet connection. You won't be able to use the LTE Network Extender until your internet connection is restored. Once your internet connection is restored, the LTE Network Extender will reestablish its connection.

Will using the LTE Network Extender affect my internet broadband performance?
The impact on broadband performance varies depending on your internet service provider and the broadband speed.

Will my call quality be impacted if I'm uploading or downloading large files while using the LTE Network Extender?
Yes, call quality can be affected when your broadband connection is being used simultaneously by bandwidth-intensive activity (e.g., emailing large attachments) and the required minimum or recommended bandwidth isn't available. Factors such as the type and speed of your broadband connection will influence the impact to call quality.

Can I use Directory Assistance (411 Search) with the LTE Network Extender?
Yes, 411 Search is available when calling inside the LTE Network Extender coverage area. Calls are billed at standard 411 Search rates.
Troubleshooting

The LTE Network Extender is taking a long time to connect. Why?
The LTE Network Extender can take up to 1 hour to become operational. If GPS signals are weak and the unit isn't positioned optimally, GPS acquisition may take longer.

I can't find a window nearby for the LTE Network Extender GPS antenna cable. What should I do?
A window or any location with a line of sight to the sky is needed for the GPS antenna to find the best available GPS signal. Please refer to the External GPS Antenna section of your User Guide:
If you're having difficulty accessing a window, you may need to use the extended GPS cable or order the 23 ft cable. Longer GPS cables with an SMB adapter or outdoor GPS antenna may be purchased from third party suppliers.

Calls I make using the LTE Network Extender sound choppy. What should I do?
Make sure that your internet connection supports at least 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink. However, speeds of 20 Mbps downlink and 10 Mbps uplink or higher are recommended. Less than 20 Mbps will impact your call quality and data speed.
