Types of refunds
Refund of a credit balance
Since we bill in advance for certain services, when a customer disconnects service they may end up with a credit balance on their final bill. This credit balance will automatically be refunded if you don’t owe any money on any Verizon accounts. This can take 60 days or more.
If you happen to have a credit balance on your account due to an adjustment or duplicate payment, we can refund that amount to you if you don’t owe any money on any Verizon accounts. Contact us and we can process that request.
Refund of a security deposit
Customers who pay a security deposit at the time of their order will have that refunded when certain conditions apply.
Once you've had your Verizon service for 12 months, we'll review your payment history to determine whether you're eligible for a refund. If you've paid your bill in full and on time 10 out of 12 months, we'll refund your deposit.
The refund will be applied to your credit or debit card. If your payment card is not available, the refund will be applied to your bill.
If you live in Virginia, Verizon holds your deposit for six months. To qualify for a deposit refund, your payment history must show that you paid your bill in full and before the due date for five out the last six bills.

Frequently asked questions
I don’t recall getting my refund. What should I do?
Remember it can take up to 60 days to get a refund of your credit balance. In the meantime, you can do the following:
Check your bills. You can view the last 24 months of your bill at My Verizon or on the My Fios app.
Check with your financial institution. They will have a record of the refund to your bank or card.
Contact Us if you’re still unable to find a record of the refund. We’ll be glad to investigate.
I disconnected and received my bill, but it doesn’t have the credits I was expecting.
If your disconnect order falls within 5 day before or after the bill date, your next bill may not reflect your disconnect request or the associated prorated charges.
What happens to my refund if I’m enrolled in Auto Pay?
Your refund will be sent back to the bank account or card used to make the last payment.
