  1. What is 411 Search?

    411 Search is directory assistance with automatic call completion. An operator will assist you when you request:

    • Phone numbers
    • Addresses
    • Information for almost any place of interest, like restaurants, movies or the nearest florist

    To reach 411 Search, simply call 4-1-1 from your mobile phone. You'll be charged the standard $1.99 fee for a 411 call.

  3. Do I need to sign up to use 411 Search?

    No, 411 Search is automatically available to you when you call 411 from your mobile phone.

  4. What services are available when I call 411 from my mobile phone?

    You can receive a variety of information, including:

    • Local and National Directory Assistance - Request phone numbers around the corner or across the country
    • Yellow Pages Category Search - Search by name or business type
    • Movie Listings - Find out what's playing and where including theater names, show times, ratings and more
    • International Directory Assistance - Request US, Canadian and Puerto Rican phone numbers
    • Reverse Directory Search - Search for the published name and address for up to 3 listings requested by telephone number

  5. How many requests can I make on each call to 411 Search?

    During a single 411 call, you can request up to 3 selections from the menu of services offered.

  6. Will the 411 Search service connect me to the number I request?

    Yes, in addition to providing you with the requested number, 411 Search can also connect to a number you'd like to call.

    Note: You can request up to 3 numbers in a single 411 call, but you can only be connected to 1 of those numbers.

  7. Do I get charged if the call disconnects when the 411 Search operator transfers my call?

    Yes, minute usage will apply for the minutes used during the call to 411 Search, according to your plan. You'll also be charged the standard $1.99 fee for a 411 call.

    If you're successfully transferred to another number, minute usage will also apply for this second call according to your plan, as if you'd hung up with 411 and called the number yourself. However, if the transfer to another number is unsuccessful, minute usage won't apply for this second call.

  8. How do I have a text message sent from 411 Search with my listing's information?

    Once the listing information is provided, you'll be prompted to select 1 to receive a text message of the listing.

    If you select 1, you'll also be asked if you'd like to set this preference for all future calls. If you do so, you'll automatically receive a text message every time you call 411 Search. Otherwise, you'll be asked with each 411 Search call if you'd like to receive a text message.

  9. How do I cancel my 411 Search text message preference?

    You can cancel the automated text message for future calls by either of the following options:

    • Ask a 411 operator to change your 411 text preference settings
    • Reply to a 411 text you receive with a message that says "Cancel"

      Note: Reply text message isn't available in:
      • Delaware
      • Florida
      • Hawaii
      • Maine
      • Massachusetts
      • Michigan
      • New Hampshire
      • Oklahoma
      • Rhode Island
      • Vermont
      • Washington DC

  10. How do I receive driving directions to my listing through 411 Search?

    You can only receive driving directions if you subscribe to VZ Navigator®.

    After you hear the listing information, you'll be prompted to select 1 to receive a free driving directions message sent to your VZ Navigator app. You can also select 2 to have a text message of the listing information sent to your phone.


    • If you don't subscribe to VZ Navigator, you won’t have the option to receive driving directions.
    • If the text message preference is set, you'll only be prompted to select 1 to receive the free driving directions message sent to your VZ Navigator app. The text message will automatically be sent to your phone.
    • BlackBerry® and Windows® Mobile phones aren't able to receive driving directions at this time.

    Standard text message charges apply. No additional charges to have directions sent.

  11. Can I prevent phones on my account from calling 411 Search?

    Yes, Verizon Smart Family™ lets you block individual lines on your account from calling 411.
