Call Filter- What is Robocalling?
If you're greeted with a recorded message when you answer your phone, it's most likely a robocall. But robocalls aren't just pre-recorded messages delivered to a lot of people.
They might be personalized to simulate a real call. They could be from charities, political organizations or maybe a reminder to get your prescription refilled.
Often times, though, these automated calls may be trying to scam you or sell you something without your permission, which usually makes them illegal. They're a cheap way for scammers to spam you from anywhere in the world without being regulated. They're also really annoying.
And with over 150 million robocalls a day – that's almost 1,800 calls per second - they're only getting more frequent.
But now you can answer with confidence at home and on the go.
Our free Call Filter app helps Verizon Wireless customers avoid unwanted spam and robocalls.
It lets you screen and block spam calls automatically based on risk level.
There's also an option to block all international calls.
Upgrade to Call Filter Plus for the ability to see the names of who's calling and customize your spam and robocall controls.
Subscribe in the app and add numbers to your spam lists, see details for unknown numbers and more.
We've got you covered at home, too, thanks to Spam Alerts for your home phone's Caller ID.
Your Caller ID will show the word "SPAM?" before a possibly unsolicited call. This feature is standard for all our Fios Digital Voice customers, but copper customers subscribed to Caller ID could get it, too.
Verizon won't block all of these calls automatically, but it lets you make a more informed decision about which calls you want to answer.
Want to silence the spam before your home phone even rings? Fios Digital Voice users can also check out Nomorobo. It's a free third-party service that identifies known robocallers and telemarketers so it can block them before they get through.
Whether it's your home phone or your smartphone, we're going to take down robocalls together. You can report a previously unidentified spam number so we can improve our spam detection technology.
Robocalling and spam may not be going away any time soon, but you can put an end to mystery calls with Verizon's help.
