You just arrived at work feeling frazzled after a rough commute, and as you’re settling in to get started on the day’s tasks the thought sneaks into your brain: “Did I close the garage door?” You’re sure you did, as you rarely leave the house without closing it. But still, did you? You were in a rush and there is a good chance it slipped your mind. Is there someone you can call to check on the house for you? Maybe you can run home on your lunch break to close it.
Save yourself from the frustration and uncertainty of this situation by installing a garage door control system that allows you to open and close your garage door from your smartphone or tablet. Receive alerts on your phone every time the door is opened and closed, and use it to check to be sure that you did in fact close it before you left for work. It’s the peace of mind you need – knowing your home is secure – so you can focus on the day’s tasks and meet your deadlines.
Yes, I need one of these! Now what?
The Chamberlain MyQ Garage™ Universal Smartphone Garage Door Controller is a breeze to install and even easier to control. All you need is a Home Wi-Fi router with high speed internet connection to get started. A Wi-Fi hub, door sensor, mounting bracket and screws, power cord and instructions on how to get the free App are all included in the package.
To use MyQ Garage, you need an internet-capable smartphone. Free apps are available for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and Android phones (2.x and later).
The MyQ Garage Door Controller works with most major brands of garage door openers made after 1993 with sectional garage doors (not for use with one-piece panel doors). Your garage door opener must also have safety-reversing sensors, which can be found at the bottom of the track of the door. These sensors prevent the door from closing when there is something blocking the path of the door.
But before you go any further, check this list* to be sure yours will work.
Now, Install It!
It only takes about a half hour to install the controller. Grab a step ladder and some tools to attach the Wi-Fi hub to the ceiling near your garage door opener. Use self-adhesive strips (not included) to attach the Door Sensor to the top panel of your garage door. Next, follow the step-by-step instructions for connecting to your Wi-Fi network, downloading the app, programming your garage door opener and completing the registration process.
The free MyQ Garage App can be installed on as many phones as you’d like, which means everyone in the family can have control of the garage door.
Worry no more
Once installed, the Chamberlain MyQ Garage will give you the peace of mind of knowing your garage door is closed even when you’re not there. You can control and monitor the door from anywhere, and the app will make sure you receive alerts any time there is activity with the door. Never pay a monthly subscription fee for this convenient service. Now take a deep breath and get started on your day with your mind finally at ease.
