Our JBL Charge 4 does not need any kind of subscription for it to be used to play music from any mobile device. All you need to do is connect the Charge 4 to a source device via Bluetooth and use any app to play the music of your choice.

Our JBL Charge 5 has a more balanced sound profile. It's also better-built, with an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, certifying it to be dust-tight and immersible in 1 meter (3.3 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes. Our Charge 5 has an EQ setting using the JBL App and has a longer battery life compared to the Charge 4.

Thanks for reaching out. The batteries of our Charge 4 are lithium-ion and have charging cycles. The life span depends on usage. There's no harm in using a higher voltage adapter, plus the charging time for the speaker will be fast.

Our JBL Charge 4 can skip, play, and pause the currently playing track, but it does not have the feature to forward and reverse songs while streaming.
