Device Deals Overview

  1. What kinds of device deals does Verizon offer?

Typical wireless device deals we offer include:

    • Buy one device and get one (BOGO) at a discounted price
    • Trade-in your device and get credit towards another
    • Buy a qualifying device and get a discount

  2. How do device deals and promos work?

Requirements are different for every promotion, so always read the offer details. In general:

    • Our special deals and promotions are:
      • Subject to change at any time.
      • Available while supplies last.
    • For many of these deals, your savings are applied to your account in the form of promo credits.
      • Promo credits can take 1 or 2 bill cycles to appear on your bill.
    • Your account must be current and not past due to be eligible for our deals.
    • Your promo credit automatically ends if the deal’s eligibility requirements are no longer met, even if you didn’t get the full credit:
      • If the deal requires you to buy your new device on a device payment agreement, in order to get the full promo value you need to continue through the end of your device payment agreement term.
      • If the promotion requires that you be on a certain monthly wireless plan and you later change that plan before you get all the promo credits, the credits will stop.

  3. How do I see what deals and promotions are available?

Visit our deals page anytime to see current promotions. You can also check My Verizon to see if you have special deals available just for you.

  4. How do I receive my promo credits?

Many of our deals give you your savings in the form of monthly credits that are added to your bill. The credit amount is spread across the full promo term regardless of whether you purchased on a device payment agreement or at full retail price.

    The promo credits:

    • Appear on your bill as “Device Promo” under either “Monthly charges and credits” or “One-time charges and credits.”
    • Reduce your overall bill amount.
    • Usually take 1 or 2 billing periods to appear on your bill.

Note: If you make changes that aren’t in keeping with the deal’s requirements (e.g., change to a non-qualifying plan, pay off your device early, etc.) then the promo credits stop even if you didn’t get the full promo credit.

  5. What kind of account changes will make my promo credits stop early?

Your promo credits stop if you:

    • Cancel your service on a line that is receiving a promotion.
      • You’ll also be required to pay the remaining balance if on a device payment agreement (Missouri customers have the option of continuing to pay their remaining balance over time).
    • Pay off your device’s device payment agreement early.
      • For buy one, get one deals, after 6 months you can pay off the “buy one” device and the promo credits for the “get one” device will continue.
    • Do an annual or early upgrade on a line receiving a promo.
    • Transfer your service to another account.
      • For buy one, get one deals, if you transfer the “get one” device to another account your promo credits stop. If you transfer the “buy one” device within 6 months of getting the device your promo credits will stop.
    • On a buy one, get one promo, disconnect the “buy one” device’s line within 6 months of ordering the device
      • You’re also required to pay the remaining balance of the device payment agreement.
    • Change your wireless plan to one that’s not eligible for the deal.

  6. Will my credits continue if I suspend my service on the device for which I'm receiving credits?

Yes, you'll still receive credits if you suspend your service. However, if you're in the military and you suspend your service due to a military deployment, your device payments and credits will be suspended.

  7. Can I pay full retail price for a device and qualify for a promotion?

With most of our deals you can choose to make payments over time by signing a device payment agreement, or pay the full retail price of the device at the time of purchase. Check the promotion’s details for more information.

Note: Regardless of whether you pay full retail or have a device payment agreement, your promo credits will be issued monthly for 24 months.

  8. Do you have device deals for existing customers?

Yes, we frequently have deals for existing customers who want to upgrade. You can find them on our Upgrade Deals page.

Additionally, many of our other deals allow existing customers to qualify by adding a new line to their account. Check the promo’s terms for more information.

Buy one, get one (BOGO) deals

  1. What’s a BOGO device deal? How does a BOGO work?

A BOGO promotion gives special pricing when you buy 2 devices at the same time:

    • The device you are getting the discount on must be of equal or lesser value than the device you are buying.
    • You pay for both devices with device payments. At the same time, you get a promo credit on your bill each month that completely or partially offsets the monthly payment for the “get one” device.
    • In order to qualify for a BOGO, both the device you’re buying and the device you’re getting must be on an eligible plan.
      • To maintain the discount, the device you’re getting the discount on must remain on a qualifying plan for the entire term, while the device you’re buying must remain on an eligible plan for at least 6 months.
Note: The value of some BOGO deals may vary depending on your plan selection. Please read the promo’s eligibility rules for more information.

For example, say you use a BOGO device payment offer to get 2 Samsung Galaxy S9s:

    • Each smartphone costs $599.99.
    • The device payment agreement is 24 monthly payments of $24.99 for each smartphone. That’s $48.98 total per month (associated taxes and service fees are extra).

    Your bills show:

Months 1 & 2 Charges appear: 2 device payment charges appear on your monthly bill statements of $24.99 each ($48.98). You must pay these charges.
Month 3* Credits appear: It usually takes 1-2 billing periods* for the BOGO credit to appear. The third bill statement after you start your device payment agreement includes:
    • 2 device payment charges for $24.99 each ($48.98 total)
    • 3 BOGO device payment credits for $24.99 each ($74. 97 total) which are:
      • The months 1 and 2 catch-up credits ($48.98)
      • The current credit for month 3 ($24.99).
Months 4-24 On the next bill statement and going forward until the devices are paid off, your bill statement shows 2 device payment charges for $24.99 each and 1 device promo credit for $24.99.
Month 25 The devices are paid off. No device payments or device promo credits appear on your bill.

*Credits can appear on your next bill or can take 1-2 billing periods to appear.

Trade-in deals

  1. What is a trade-in deal?

A device trade-in promotion requires you to trade-in a qualifying device that is in good working and cosmetic condition to receive a discount on a new device. The trade-in credit is applied each month on your billing statement. You'll start receiving the trade-in credit once your trade-in is returned to Verizon.

In order to qualify for certain trade-in deals, you may need to be on an eligible plan.

    • To maintain the discount, the device must remain on a qualifying plan for the entire term.
Note: The value of some trade deals may vary depending on your plan selection. Please read the promo’s eligibility rules for more information.

Note: Promo credits can take 1-2 billing periods to appear.

  2. What is considered “good working and cosmetic condition?”

The trade-in device must meet the following requirements:

    • The device can power on.
    • The screen is free of cracks and functioning correctly.
    • The battery is free of damage.
    • The activation lock is turned off (ex., Find My iPhone / Activation Lock).
    • The device received matches the device you stated you would send us.

  3. Does the device I’m trading in need to be active on my account? Can the device be from another carrier?

The device you’re trading does not need to be active on your account and it can be from another carrier.

  4. How can I get information about my Device Trade-in Program submission?

You can check the status of your trade-in submission or reorder shipping materials at any time. If you have additional questions, please contact our Device Trade-In team at (800) 416-8894.

Free or discounted deals

  1. What is a free or discounted device deal?

A free or discounted device deal gives a monthly credit that is applied to your billing statement over 24 months to offset the cost of a qualifying device purchase. Depending on the promotion, a new line may be required.

Note: Promo credits can take 1-2 billing periods to appear.

  2. Do I need to trade-in a device or buy a 2nd device to qualify?

Typically, free or discounted device promotions only require a purchase of a qualifying new device. A trade-in or 2nd device purchase is not usually needed. As always, please read the promo eligibility rules carefully.
