Sonim XP5 Software Update
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update for your device. This software update has been tested to provide a better user experience. For example, Flip Open will allow you to answer or ignore incoming calls.
Before you download:
- Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network, or make sure it has a strong Verizon Wireless network connection.
- Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update.
XP5 VZW SU1: Procedure to update the FOTA & Client SU1 FOTA Release
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update for your Sonim XP5, with improvements to incoming calls, and a few bug fixes.
The first step is to update your device operating system software.
Connect to Wi-Fi Network
- From Home screen, select Menu > Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi settings and turn Wi-Fi on.
- Select Wi-Fi for the list of accessible Wi-Fi networks.
- Select your preferred network. Enter the WEP/WPS/ WPA password if necessary, and select Connect.
Wi-Fi software update
- From Home screen, select Menu.
- Select Applications > App Updates.

- Press the Options key on your device keypad and select Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi only.

- From Home screen, select Menu.
- Select Applications > App Updates.

- Select Check for updates, which starts the software update.

- From Home screen, select Menu.
- Select Applications > App Updates.

- Press the Options key on your keypad and select Settings.
- Select Wi-Fi and Mobile Data.
- From Home screen, select Menu.
- Select Applications > App Updates.

- Select Check for updates, which starts the software update.
Mobile Hotspot
Your Sonim XP5 now supports Mobile Hotspot (if you're subscribed to the feature, or have a plan that includes Mobile Hotspot, such as the new Verizon Plan).
To use Mobile Hotspot on your Sonim XP5:
Setting Up Wi-Fi Hotspot
- From Home screen, select Menu >Settings.
- In "Wireless & networks" select More…
- Select Tethering & portable hotspot.
- Select Set up Wi-Fi hotspot.
- Enter network name, security details and password, then select Save.
Activating Wi-Fi Hotspot
- From Home screen, select Menu >Settings.
- In "Wireless & networks" select More…
- Select Tethering & portable hotspot.
- Select Portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
