Laggy and poor quality

Got this phone about a year ago now, first night I had it the phone overheated trying to transfer my information, first week into it the phone overheated constantly especially when charging, dropped it once with a heavy duty case over the case that the phone already is built into and cracked the screen with a glass screen protector on it as well. I tried returning the phone and after a 3 hour wait and talk to another person phone call I was basically told it's not happening. Now here we are a year down the road, phone is in same condition but battery life is terrible, overheats even more, super slow and laggy, camera quality is terrible.... Just wish I went with a different phone completely... My old OnePlus phone is way better still to this day if I turn it on. Save your money and don't buy this.

Every stat is better according to KYOCERA, nothing is better as of yet using this thing, very disappointed. Camera, display, performance all seem inferior, I don't know how this can be, given the stats, but I'm not happy with it. I've liked all previous models and each one has gotten better until now.

Please contact our support team to describe your camera use case and we may recommend that you change some camera settings. The OLED display on DuraForce PRO 3 certainly displays more vibrant colors and deeper blacks than the screen on DuraForce Ultra. It is also easier to see under brighter light, since the display is brighter and the glass over it has better optical properties. Perhaps your newer phone is set to a color theme that you don't like as well. The performance of the two devices are similar with the DuraForce PRO 3 having a slight edge. If you are seeing performance issues in particular use cases, please contact us and we will try to help you troubleshoot the problem. We do not base our comparison of these two models solely on the specs. I've had several in the Duraforce line, my UW Duraforce 5g was great until the battery had to be charged several times per day and couldn't find a replacement battery, even tried buying a new phone, but Verizon doesn't have them in stock anymore even though they are listed on here as an option. Finally had to give in and get this new model, feels no where near as heavy duty, disappointed they got rid of the Sapphire shield screen. I would return this in a heartbeat to go with my old phone and a new battery. Every new phone has felt like an upgrade until this one. Every part of it feels cheaper, back cover had to be snapped in and still doesn't feel solid. This one, oddly doesn't seem to function as well and the screen display isn't as good, even after messing with settings extensively, (I still find I prefer to use the old one on WiFi when I'm at home) Very disappointed but I do have a couple weeks left on the return policy, may be time to try a different brand... If I keep it, and things inprove, I will update my review.

Hi Ryan, thank you for being a loyal Kyocera customer and for providing your feedback. DuraForce PRO 3 is lighter than DuraForce Ultra and the back cover is thinner. Based on customer feedback, our mechanical engineers designed DuraForce PRO 3 to be smaller, lighter, and with a removable battery while still meeting the same drop and waterproof tests. It is easier to hold and carry. Since it is lighter than DuraForce Ultra, it lands with less force, so it withstands drops better. We also designed it with a removable battery, so it can be changed between shifts or people can carry a spare. And, the battery can be easily replaced when it gets old. In order for DuraForce PRO 3 to pass the drop and hazardous location testing, the battery was designed with a strengthened housing and it is held in place with a sliding lock mechanism. The back cover must be installed correctly, by first placing the plastic tabs on the top edge into position under the edge of the case and then pushing down along the sides and bottom to snap all the other tabs into place. Finally, the back cover is secured with a locking screw. Note that portions of the battery cover may come slightly loose during a drop and should be snapped back into place in order to restore waterproofness. The fact that the back cover yields slightly under pressure does not diminish the phone’s ability to withstand drops. The raised, reinforced edges and corners take the brunt of impacts and a cover that flexes is less likely to dent or crack. We are confident that this design will satisfy the vast majority of users who need an ultra-rugged smartphone. Regarding the quality of the display, the DuraForce PRO 3 OLED display is actually higher quality than the one on DuraForce Ultra and the glass has better optical properties than sapphire does. As a point of reference, ZDNet tested and ranked DuraForce PRO 3 as having the ""best display in a rugged phone."" We hope that you come to like DuraForce PRO 3. You folks need to update the specs for this phone. You don't even have to test it to know this, just look at the back of the phone. Even it you sealed the back, the speaker can't get wet either.

The specs on the DuraForce PRO 3 page are correct. The phone is waterproof and has been tested to meet IP68 at 2m/6.5ft for up to 30 minutes. When closed correctly, the back cover and USB port cover provide a waterproof seal. Additional protection for the internal components of the phone are provided by waterproof membranes inside the USB port, speaker and microphone openings. Yes, I'd recommend this product.
Had this phone for a few weeks now and I'm getting used to it. Went from a larger phone to this one so it takes a little bit of getting use to the size. Seems sturdy and can take a beating. The only thing I don't like about it the battery. With my old phone I could listen to music for 12 hours and the battery would be at around 50%, this one however after listening to music all day at work it is almost drained and I'm wondering if I will be able to clock out or not. That is the only issue I have with it as of now. We'll see how durable it is after I've had it a little bit longer.

I'm hard on phones. I work outdoors in all weather. The waterproofing holds up big time. I've dropped this phone is creeks and dove in to a lake with it in my pocket while getting attacked by wasps and no issues.
The one thing that doesn't hold up and has now compromised any waterproofing - the glass covering the cameras is much lower quality. I had an embankment give out under my feet and drop me about 6 feet on to my stomach. The phone was in my front pocket - the impact between my quad and a down tree I landed on shattered the glass covering the cameras.
I had an older version of this same phone and it help up longer.

The screen broke in my pocket, less than 30 days after receiving the phone. Verizon doesn't cover physical damage claims and won't replace, repair, or exchange it, and no repair shop has parts for this thing because 1) it's too new, and 2) it's not supposed to break, or 3) KYOCERA is not making replacement parts available.
So here I am, stuck with a 30-day old, supposedly indestructible phone, one payment into a 3 year plan, with no way to fix a broken glass screen. Thanks, everyone.

DuraForce PRO 3 is designed and tested to withstand drops of up to 1.5m onto concrete, however, we do realize that screens can break under certain scenarios. It would be highly irregular for the screen to break while simply sitting in a pocket. Our rugged phones come with Kyocera’s Standard 2-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty. That is not correct. DuraForce PRO 3 is an Android phone and it supports Android Auto. For those using Android Auto, it is a good idea to check for the latest version of the app, since Google continues to release improvements.
