Bring your mobile device to Verizon using an eSIM FAQs
If you have a smartphone with a built-in eSIM, you can sign up for Verizon service in My Verizon. You don't need to go to a store to BYOD to Verizon.
About bringing your own eSIM device
- iPhone - Open the Control Center by swiping down.
- Android™ smartphone - Go to Settings > About Phone > Status.
What phone number do I get when I bring my device to Verizon using eSIM?
When switching to Verizon, you can bring your existing number from your current carrier, or choose to have a new number assigned to you. You can choose either option during the bring your own device set up.
What plan should I pick when bringing my own device using eSIM?
Verizon offers several Unlimited plans to choose from. For help deciding what's right for you, take a look at our plan comparison.
How long does it take to connect to the Verizon network for the first time after signing up using eSIM?
It can take up to 15 minutes for your phone to connect to the Verizon network for the first time.
If after 15 minutes your service isn't activated, contact us for help. Don't attempt to activate service again while waiting to connect.
How will I know that I'm connected to the Verizon network after I sign up using eSIM?
To be sure you’re connected to the Verizon network:

Which mobile devices and laptops can I bring to Verizon using eSIM?

Can I still bring my own device to Verizon if it doesn't have an eSIM?
Yes, if your device doesn't have an eSIM, you can still activate it on the Verizon network using a physical SIM card. You can enroll by going online, visiting a Verizon location or contacting us.
Activating a BYOD eSIM device
- To activate most eSIM-enabled Samsung devices, visit Samsung Phones - Add Cellular Plan.
- Power on your Windows device and complete the Out of Box setup.
- When prompted, select a Wi-Fi network, and follow the instructions to connect.
- When you reach the Home screen, select the Network icon on the taskbar at the bottom right of the screen.
- Look for "Get Connected" under the Cellular icon and select Connect with a data plan. This opens the Windows Mobile Plans Application.
- Select Verizon from the carrier list. If you don't see Verizon in the list, your laptop is not currently compatible on the Verizon network. Find out which devices and laptops can I bring to Verizon using eSIM.
- Choose New or Existing Customer and sign in with your My Verizon user ID or mobile number and password when prompted.
- Follow the instructions and proceed through a series of screens with steps to activate Verizon service on your device.
- When a new line of service has been added, a profile will download and install.
- When you see the message "Your device activated" your laptop is connected to the Verizon 4G / 5G Network.

How can I manage my account after I bring my own device using eSIM?
After you sign up for service you can manage your account through the My Verizon app or from My Verizon website. My Verizon allows you to do things like view and pay your bill, change your plan and upgrade your device.

Troubleshooting digital SIM
- If your device is "dual SIM" and you want to change from using the SIM card to using the eSIM, you may need to remove the card first.
