Understanding Your Paper Bill
Here's a quick guide to help you understand all the information on your paper bill.
On the first page, you'll see a summary of charges that equals the total amount due this month. This includes any one-time charges and refunds which are items that are not part of your regular monthly recurring charges or refunds. For example, a bill credit, a device purchase or 411 calls.
You'll also see items that are part of your regular monthly account level charges. For example, your share plan or shared international plan. You'll also see the individual line charges for up to 5 lines. This amount is the total charges that are part of your regular monthly line level charges. For example, line access charge, total mobile protection or device payment.
Last, you'll see any "Surcharges", "Taxes and government fees".
If you have changes to your bill, you'll see we've added a new What's changed page to help you understand what areas have changed from the previous month. Like, if you've changed your plan or added a new line, you'll see a summary of what monthly charges have gone up, or even better, gone down.
In addition, if you want to see your next month charges you can visit vzw.com/nextbillsummary. If you haven't made any changes from the previous month, you won't see this page.
If you have a credit or past due balance, you'll see a section for "Credit balance" or "Balance past due". There's also a new "One-time charges" section, here you will find details on new or removed add-ons. For example, if you've changed plans or added or removed Total Mobile Protection during the middle of your bill cycle, you'll see a credit for the removal or a charge for the paraded amount.
Now we'll move in to your plan information at the account level. Regardless of what plan you're on, this will include your monthly access charge for your plan and any discounts associated with your plan. If you're on the Verizon Unlimited Plan you won't see the data usage information. If you're not on the Unlimited Plan, you'll see the data usage information for the top 3 lines. If you have more than 3 lines, the additional lines will be grouped and summarized on the 4th line.
There are three sections of data information: Shared data usage, Types of data you used, Estimated top activities and usage history. The "Shared data usage" section provides the amount of data that was used and your data allowance. If you experience any overage, you'll know at a glimpse as the bar graph will display red. The "Types of data you used" section calls out the different types of data you may have on your account. For example, any bonus data from a promotion, gifted data or any carryover data. Your "Estimated top activities" is an estimation of how you're using your data. Your usage history will show you a three month view of how much data you've used in comparison to how much data you've had available. This trend is helpful to decide if you want to add more data to your plan for the next month based on how much you've been using.
Next, you'll see the monthly recurring charges at the line level. These charges will include:
- Line access charges
- Device payments
- Line level add-ons (ex. visual voicemail, device protection).
Any new charges will be noted with a callout in blue and the summary of any changes that cause the charges at the line level to go up or down, is noted below each line. You'll also see the data usage in "Estimated top activities" by line.
Let's talk about "Surcharges" and "Taxes" section. We've simplified how we are displaying the surcharges and taxes on your bill which are now consolidated for the entire account.
Things you need to know appear on the "Additional information" page. This will show any bill messages that may be important to note, device payment schedule and more.
Lastly, there is the new payment option page that provides information about making a payment. If you're splitting the bill, a breakout of all applicable charges by line, including surcharges and taxes, is listed on the payment page to make it easier to identify each line's portion of the bill. If you want to mail a check, you'll find the remit slip located at the bottom of this page.
