Educational Services were dominated by phishing attacks, yet many organizations failed to have the proper reporting systems and processes in place. It’s paramount to educate your staff by running tests and encouraging them to report any possible phishing attempts, so your security team can act quickly.

Considerations
A high rate of credential attacks
Compared to other sectors, Educational Services organizations reported some of the highest numbers of credential-focused attacks. Ransomware attacks saw a big increase, as well, accounting for 80% of all malware-related incidents.
Personal devices create vulnerabilities
Education was the only sector in which malware distribution to victims was more common through websites than email. This is likely due to malware being distributed via unmonitored email such as students’ personal accounts and BYOD on shared networks. Those infections obviously endanger the larger organization.
